We have so much depth at offensive line this year that it might be wise to trade someone for a draft pick or another player.

That NFL is long-gone. Also Hannah was 6' 2"
Long gone for sure. Elgin being 6'4", though, should give him size potential. Unless he has a thin build he should be able to get to 290-300 by the 2008 season - what to do with him in the meantime is the question, keep him or hope to get him to the practice squad.

Training camp is two and a half months away. EAT young fellah, EAT!!

I'm not worried about losing a 5th round or later draft choice from the Practice Squad. I know many have worried about this issue needlessly in the past.

I agree that Elgin is expect to add 20 pounds over the next year. I don't think we've lost many. Someone might recall the last few; I don't. He will need to battle NFLE Barthelms for the Practice Squad spot. I don't Mruczkowski has any more time left.

Mike Wright should be able to give him some tips on that. For that matter, so should Justin Rogers (200 -> 260!).

I fully expect the Pats to emerge from TC with at least one additional Day Two pick--and I expect the Pats to trade for at least one Day One pick in 2008 after the season, too.

If you can indulge me this quote; "I wouldn't put him in Canton yet."

I'd agree that we tend to overglamorize our late-round picks. Unheralded interior linemen like Elgin and conversion projects like Rogers are seldom snapped up for anybody's 53. But quarterbacks are another story. If Gutierrez shows promise in preseason, I'd expect the Patriots to protect him on the roster just as they did with Cassel and Brady--two others who looked like likely PS material on draft day.

Hill isn't necessarily done yet. We have to see how he does in this year's training camp. If he doesn't show enough development, then he's definitely out on the street; but he does have another training camp to prove himself.

I suppose after 3 years actually doing something in training camp would be an improvement.

Hope to get him to the practice squad?

He's a 270 Lb. lineman?

Can he long snap?
