Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the Wildcat offense only made any sort of impact in ONE game last year....the first time it was used against the Pats. I don't remember seeing it work very well in any other game...and not just for Miami, but all of the teams in the NFL that tried it. I don't see the point in the Patriots trying to use it either. They have Tom Brady. Taking the ball out of his hands is dumb.
I don't want Michael Vick anywhere near the Patriots. If he does come here, I hate to say it, but I wouldn't root for them any longer.
Yes, I believe the WC offense is becoming overrated, and I believe there's certainly a way to stop it--or at least keep it in check, as proved in a way. I think it has the potential to catch teams off guard, etc, and I can see why Pat White would create problems down in Miami. The oppositional matchups are in their favor, and the options are sick. I think we could certainly come up with some versions of our own with another person or persons, whether or not it's Edelman, I don't know. I don't think we'd need to bring in the most hated player in the NFL just for a few plays a game--although like some said, it'd certainly create plenty of problems for D coordinators.
First we don't even know if he'll be able to play much or contribute this year--as Goodell could make somewhat of an example out of him. He could be suspended for at the very least 6-8 games, at the most probably an entire season. Secondly, we aren't sure about his salary demands, although I'm sure they're very deflated, he was a very high paid player. I really don't think coach would agree to pay someone too much for a few plays a game. I certainly wouldn't want him as our #3 QB, I don't think he's a very good QB--but once again, that's just my opinion. It could be argued at least, that he's even been played out of position in the NFL. Third, we don't know what kind of shape he'd be in, as eating high carb jail food had to take some kind of toll on him. He may have also lost a step or two.
IMO, it's a very risky proposition, and I'm not sure the payoffs could equal it. That said, you mentioned how you couldn't root for this team anymore, and although I can understand what you're saying, I couldn't ever agree with that statement. I really don't like the whole embrace the hate idea, and I was much happier when we were more respected--as a whole, coaches and players. I think a lot feel the same way, but we have no choice at the moment. It's either embrace the hate, or choose the option that you suggested. But I see no reason in adding needless fuel to the fire, either.
Yes, the team has done quite well under media scrutiny, especially in 07, as one poster pointed out. There's no arguing in that, but it hasn't stopped since 07, actually just the opposite--so we won't entirely know how they respond until this upcoming year, and possibly the next.
