1) the player doesn't get paid
2) a disciplinary step that eventually could result in voiding of his contract (after continued infractions; not likely here, given Bennett's apology).

Because he actually wants to play? Him not playing hurts his long term value. If he’s not bringing anything to the team, trade him and let him earn it somewhere else. Simple.
