It's easy, and only takes a few moments.Pump the brakes and come back to me when he is impactful against teams that are playoff/super bowl contenders.Based on Meyers performance thus far if he continues he'll get there. Meyers missed two full games and still leads all Patriots WR's that's saying something.
You know who was my favorite WR last Draft it goes without saying. We would be doing cart wheels if we had George Pickens right now: that said really hope TT pans out.We need Thornton to develop into a number 1 with George Pickens looking amazing
Good point. I think the lack of TDs really hurts his negotiations. Hopefully the Pats can keep him on a cheap deal. There is zero shot he gets that much from anyone. Zero. Teams didn't even offer him in RFA after an 80-catch season.
I think that's the trend with good health Meyers needle is pointing up: I see a huge improvement in his overall game.Unless he has a monster breakout season, he’s not going to get much attention in FA as a big item ticket. His prior production was mediocre and not impactful as the leading WR. Gets taken out of games when they are behind because he doesn’t make big plays. Is allergic to the end zone.
I have PTSD when it comes to patriots and drafting WRs. I am a wide receiver nut who follows them in college regularly. Our Chief WR scout should be fired, but thats another debate for another day. Pickens route running and hands are unbelievable. I’m holding out hope Thornton could develop into something really good. He does have that elite game changing speed. You know who was my favorite WR last Draft it goes without saying. Thornton #50 Pickens #52 hope we are not haunted by that missed selection down the road. That said I like Thornton's game but love Pickens game even better Pickens reminds of that WR on Cincinnati Ja'Marr Chase huh.I have PTSD when it comes to patriots and drafting WRs. We’ll we haven’t won the division in 3 years and it’s probably the biggest missing piece of this puzzle to complete a successful rebuild. Our defense is very good, just need to improve our offenseIf by another day, you mean every g*dd*mn day on this forum, then you're right. I can't remember a three day stretch that's passed where this hasn't been brought up by someone.
Huh? When it comes to players usually you are a lot more negative than I am.We’ll we haven’t won the division in 3 years and it’s probably the biggest missing piece of this puzzle to complete a successful rebuild. Our defense is very good, just need to improve our offense
I'm a Mac fan, but I don't think WR is the biggest piece we're missing. A stud WR makes no difference in the Cam year. A stud WR doesn't do much last year when Mac was on the leash. A stud WR might help this year, but I still think this year lives or dies by how well Mac plays. We’ll we haven’t won the division in 3 years and it’s probably the biggest missing piece of this puzzle to complete a successful rebuild. Agreed. It's been a while since Patriot fans have had to reckon with the impact of the most important position on the field. There's a reason QBs can account for 5 or more wins a year.I'm a Mac fan, but I don't think WR is the biggest piece we're missing. A stud WR makes no difference in the Cam year. The Pats may already have WR in good shape with Meyers in the slot and Thornton to stretch the field. They need a good TE or two for the redzone and third down conversions.Im torn between wanting a Patriots drafted WR break the 1000 yards mark and hoping he doesn't play himself out of the Patriots budget
now because he is so often overlooked based on his ""mediocre"" athletiscism, I don't see him being too expensive, but... well, inflation is not only a world problem, it's a WR problem too.
But before I put all my hopes into Jakobi, I think DCs around the league are starting to see him as our #1 threat, deservedly so, and will gameplan around him, especially on third downs.
But when? The Pats may already have WR in good shape with Meyers in the slot and Thornton to stretch the field. They need a good TE or two for the redzone and third down conversions.
They already have that guy. Henry led the league (tied) in TD catches for TEs last year. The Pats may already have WR in good shape with Meyers in the slot and Thornton to stretch the field. They need a good TE or two for the redzone and third down conversions.
TT only had 2 catches for 7 the last game, but just his presence is going to open things up way more for Meyers (or another WR), who is already extremely good at getting open even against the likes of Xavien and TDiggs. (Although I guess we should wait until they play against a real secondary.)But when?
I'll wait for TT to have his first catch before I get a little excited (My heart was broken by Harry for one last time, a rookie WR needs to prove his worth in-game before I even start looking his way)
Meyers is in his last year and I don't think anyone can predict what his next contract will be right now, with his whole season ahead of him. Just too many uncertain variables for the long-term to get me excited.
Let's at least wait out for the Zappe stint/Mac miraculous return before thinking that we have solution in-house for the future, it's what Im saying
