It bites to be Merriman, too. He's starting to restart his career, gets injured in first practice. I"m no fan of his, but that sucks none the less.

Damn if I were Merriman i wouldn't have signed with any team. I would've used the rest of the season to just get healthy and got one of those expensive celebrity trainers to help me him have essentially 2 off seasons to regain his form.

I do sincerely feel for Bills fans.

Folks in Buffalo are good football people in my book... they really know the game and I'm pulling for that organization to turn things around... yes, even though they're in the AFC East.

I think he could have refused to report and just forfeited the remainder of his salary. Which I believe is still his rookie contract so maybe it wouldn't have hurt his pockets that much.

Hard for me to feel sorry for the guy, considering:

- He fired his agent the day after he got drafted and got in bed with the Postons (he knew being associated with them would have hurt his draft stock otherwise so he waited until after)
- Fired them after he got his rookie contract and hired Tom Condon.
- Fired Condon and hired David Dunn to get a new contract from the Chargers (which didn't work).
- Google Search "Shawne Merriman" and "Tila Tequila".
- He's the same guy who said almost four years ago that he was going to "punch Tom Brady in his mouth" at a Chargers fan rally.

Lights Out for him. And sorry for any Bills fans that are hoping for any meaningful contribution from that meathead.

It's not lack of steroids, but rather a career ending type of injury. Merriman will never recover from that hit Jeff Fisher put out on him. He's done at the age of 26. Maybe he can start a new career as a broadcaster since he seems to enjoy doing that, even though he's not very good at it. He could also potentially be a linebacker coach or a professional woman beater.

Tony mandarich although one of the biggest bust of all time later became a pretty solid O-lineman for the colts for a few years. His last year was protecting some dude named peyton manning in his rookie campaign.

Rodney used once, only to recover from a specific injury. It wouldn't surprise me
