While I'm ranting elsewhere about the stupidity of players let me contradict myself again by saying that agree or not Willie's analysis posted by jmt57 is largely well reasoned and articulated. Another fine ex-Patriot.

His most important point for the offense I think is the play of the RBs.

I think that's the key to the offense this season - if the ground game is lacking and too much is on Brady's shoulders with limited receiving resources, that could make or break a few games.

He's pretty much spot on.

Except for the part where it says 'Free Manson'

Honestly I still believe we'll go 14-2. Im giving the offense the bennifit of the doubt until they show me that they can't run the ball and for some reason Gronk and/or Amendola don't play. I have high hopes for Ballard, Sudfeld and Dobson (not expecting him to light it up early at all but I do see him contributing late in the year.) This is the year the defense takes the leap to becoming a clear top 10 if they stay healthy IMO. The only team with a better linebacking corps is San Fran and our secondary is finally looking deep. McCourty (at S), Talib, and Arrington(at slot corner) are all pro bowl calibre players. If Chandler Jones takes the next step and becomes the double digit sack machine that he's expected to be...lawd

I see us dropping games to the Bucs and shocker...Browns.

It Is What It Is » Willie McGinest: Patriots will finish 11-5, with losses to Falcons, Bengals, Broncos

Among the 5 losses, he predicts losses to the Falcons, Bengals, and Broncos. As of right now, I could see the losses to the Falcons and Broncos, but I can't see the Bengals beating the Pats. I think Talib, if healthy, is more than capable of containing A.J. Green and I don't see any of the other weapons the Bengals have giving us a hard enough time. Their pass rush is dangerous but they don't have an answer for the TE. As for the Broncos, if Ballard returns to full health and Amendola sticks, I don't see how they've improved enough to stop the short passing game that has carved them up so much in the past couple of years. But their passing game should be hard to contain as well. Welker will probably light up our defense like a Christmas tree.

Re the Bengals. Atkins is legit and if he has a good day that can be trouble. But i personally think the pats should have too much for them. But they are a talented young team that we are playing away so i can see why Willie said that. For me i have us with losses to 5-1 in the div, @Falcons, Broncos, Saints and @Ravens.

For a good season IMO we need to find a way to win early with the various new faces in our passing attack.

Pretty safe prediction; I would say the same.

Bengals are still the Bengals, not buying them until they win a big time game. Might make the playoffs but probably go one and done again.

I think this team is going to come out with something to prove this season. I think this type of offseason will serve as motivation for BB and our core players like Brady, Wilfork, Mayo and McCourty. I think accountability will be at an all time high this season.

Remember Brady on the sidelines yelling at the offense during the steelers game back in 2010 despite being up by almost 3 touchdowns. That's the type of things I expect and hope to see this year. Leadership and flawless execution.

I see them winning at least 12 games, and the shocking loss of the season coming against TB.

Sounds right. I see them at 11-5 as well. Losing to the Broncos, MIA once and falcons..other 2..don't know

Even the best NE defenses tend to need 6-8 games to put it all together. I suspect we'll see more of the same this year, though I think the floor level might be higher than it has been the past two seasons.

Thats not really accurate. Sure the Patriots tend to improve throughout the season, but your comment is not accurate. Many Patriot defenses have started the season strong.

"Improv[ing] throughout the season" is saying the exact same thing I said.

Meh, the Pats are a perennial contender. As long as they make the post season, the regular season record matters very little. At 14-2... we've seen 2 SB wins, and a 1 & Done. At 11-5... 1 SB win, 3 SB appearances, and elimination. At 16-0, a SB loss.

The point being is the post-season is the 2nd season, and it's anyone's game.

11 - 5 or even 9 - 7 would be fine with me as long as we are also 3/4 - 0

My stinker game is the Tampa Bay game. Schiano understands Belichick well and that secondary is loaded.
The Bucs D is going to be my sneaky flier for this season in Fantasy. It's a well constructed unit that was a nightmare to run against. Now they've got one of the best Secondaries in the NFL. If that unit gels, it's going to be interesting watching Doug Martin run all over teams.

For the record, I picked an 11-5 record.
