McDaniels among those being sought to interview for Arkansas HC job

If Bill OBrien doesn't leave for Penn State Josh McDaniels isn't even here.
Not sure why that is relevant.

What's naive is to think that McDaniels somehow leveraged himself from Offensive Coordinator of the last ranked offense in the league to the contractual successor to Belichick. Why would the Patriots limit themselves to a guy who had a failed stint as a head coach and a year as OC of the 32nd ranked offense?

The Patriots have more business sense than to do that, It's like going all in on a jack high hand in poker.

When the time comes maybe he is considered for the job but no way would they commit to him now.
Since you are mimicking most of what I said only sprinkling in some vitriol, does this mean you agree with my entire post? That would be good, because this topic has gotten more attention that it should already.

Right take someone who is a convenient fill for the OC job and promote him all the way to head coach in waiting.

Someone has a complex, I wasn't mimicking you and that's the second time in two posts you've accused me of anger and/or vitriol. What so offensive about what I said?

Clearly someone in this conversation has some serious anger issues - and brother it ain't you. :rocker:

OK, lets try something different. You seem to take whatever I type and pretend I am typing what you want to argue against.
So, tell me this. Since it would obviously make sense for BB to be grooming a successor, who do YOU think on the current staff would be his first choice to groom?

You repeated everything I said, and acted like you were disagreeing with me.
I siad it is naive to think that he was promised that he was the successor, and you type this:

You seem to want to have an argumnet with yourself and since the word McDaniels is in my post you assign the counter argument to me, even though I am not making it.

Dude, when you find it necessary to insult the person you are discussing, it is only natural to assume you are angry.
I already gave you one example.
Another is referring to the guy that BB clearly feels very highly about and who was very successful here, as

guy who had a failed stint as a head coach and a year as OC of the 32nd ranked offense?

Maybe I misunderstand and its not anger, but just clouded by dislike.

I'm disputing there is an agreement in place, the need to have one at this and the supposed choice. I also wouldn't limit to just this staff and maybe in 5 years one of the now young assistants is the new top choice. BB works closely with Matt Patricia, why exclude him? Pepper Johnson could certainly lead a locker room better than McDaniels. Not saying either should be the next guy but why exclude all other options to lock down Mcdaniels.

It's the whole point, why commit to Mcdaniels? Why now? When it could be 1 year, it could be 6 years. Who knows who will be available? And didn't Belichick himself resign as HC of the NYJ under the same type of agreement.

You repeated everything I said, and acted like you were disagreeing with me.

Well, you also said "Its kind of naive to not think that BB would be forward thinking enough to train his own replacement, and while we have no clue how long it could be, out of the current staff its plain as day, if he is training one McDaniels would be him." and "McDaniels is by far the top candidate if that is the case."

Dude, when you find it necessary to insult the person you are discussing, it is only natural to assume you are angry.

Pointing out someone's record isn't insulting them.

Another is referring to the guy that BB clearly feels very highly about and who was very successful here, as a guy who had a failed stint as a head coach and a year as OC of the 32nd ranked offense?

That is what he did when he wasn't under the Belichick umbrella. They accurately describe his tenure as Denver HC and Rams OC.

Maybe I misunderstand and its not anger, but just clouded by dislike.

I dislike the notion that they would settle on McDaniels years in advance at the expense of all other options when he's done nothing in his time away from the Patriots to warrant that type of commitment.

Wow, just wow.
I AGREE, let me restate AGREE, one more time AGREE that such a commitment would be ridiculous.
Are you capable of discussing more than one facet of a topic?
My question was not about committing, it was about who is the most likely successor.

Who in the world are you arguing with?
Have you read anything I posted?
You are replacing my words with an opinion you would like to argue with and pretending that is waht I am saying.

Yup. What is there to dispute about that?

Pointing out someone's record isn't insulting them.
Yes but pointing out onl the negatives shows you have an agenda.

Where have I said anything about committing to McDaniels and settling on him years in advance? Please give me one instance, or find someone who is saying what you want to argue about to argue with,.

You're taking everything very personally and starting to sound a little paranoid. Maybe battling everybody on every subject in every thread is starting to take its toll.

You got it all wrong, Saban is the next Pats head coach and McDaniels is the next 'bama HC
