He failed and no doubt was embarrassed by it, but remaining silent while letting your woman play attack dog in public forum is pretty weak. Agreed he never should've had that in Mayo's contract. But had Mayo been honest with himself, he could have bowed out of taking the job knowing he wasn't ready -- no one forced him to do it. Kraft didn't screw Mayo (who gets paid regardless), he screwed the franchise and the fans.
