Jerod Mayo was a good LB and is a great family man but he is ill-equipped to be an NFL head coach right now.

His firing was clearly performance based and not personal.

Rumor is Kraft interviewed Mayo at Orchids of Asia. Pretty shocking stuff

Just to play along:

He was here for several years before he was a HC. He could have all sorts of interesting things to say.

Thing is, the things they're saying about Mayo in these anonymous quotes aren't THAT bad. Like, it's not a great look to be playing cards etc but that isn't going to stop him from getting a job. People will say "guess that guy wasn't ready to be a head coach" which was obvious just from the on-field product and was why he was fired. He will still be able to go become a defensive position coach, maybe a DC if he's lucky, somewhere and work on fixing what he's bad at and rebuild his career. He's very young, he has a lot of time. It's not like the stories are saying he was sleeping around, or blackmailing, or some other scandal.

If he's going to get pissy and fight back against quotes that on the whole are not really much more damaging to his career than where his career already is anyway, then he's going to tank his future prospects himself by making himself look immature and unsuited to being hired for even those roles I just mentioned.

Unless the "truth" is that the Patriots actually went 11-6 and all the reports of them going 4-13 are lies, then I really don't care what she has to say.

I’m guessing here

Kraft told Mayo to throw the last game
Kraft didn’t want to pay for free agents Mayo wanted to get.
Kraft talked crap about Belichick more than we can Imagine.
Kraft told Mayo his job was safe.
Kraft wouldn’t hire the staff Mayo wanted to put together.
Kraft screwed Mayo out of money.
Kraft was cheating and skirting rules somehow.

It’s gotta be something like that.
If he claims Kraft told him to throw the last game

Draft pick forfeiture coming in 3…..2….1…

I thought they would kick Mayo upstairs with some sort of title rather than dump him. Seems like they were pissed at him for something.

Trying to win the last game of the season when he couldn't win a game since Chicago was the biggest ******* move I've seen.

We will see in time if the drop in the draft has a major impact on the Pats for the future.

He could live with having the worst record in the last 30 years?

I’m deadass beginning to hate Mayo.

Just reminds me of every incompetent, blame-avoiding, corporate weasel I’ve ever met.
It certainly is starting to feel that way, isn't it.

I was waiting for the media to get so angry at his coaching, they’d start attacking him as a player. It finally happened a couple weeks ago on the Felger and Mazz Show. Mazz brought it up asking whether anyone can remember a play that stood out and he couldn’t name one. Felger couldn’t name one either.

HT is remembered for his tackles in the Super Bowl

Jamie Collin’s had his INT’s, sacks up the gut and numerous field goal blocks.

Spikes laid the lumber and was Seau like shooting up the gut.

Mayo was just existed.

The play I most remember Mayo being involved in was one he didn’t make. Early in SB46, Eli Manning connects with Victor Cruz for a short TD. Mayo diagnosed that play correctly and was in position to deflect or intercept that pass. Instead, he just missed the ball and it ended up being a TD reception.

This isn’t what lost the game. There’s a bunch of little mistakes the Patriots made that added to a loss, but holding the Giants to 3 or 0 points there would have been a big help.

Looking at Mayo’s stats, he had a few very good to great years statistically. Unfortunately, he was never considered the best LB in the league, even for a season.

Great. The Nightmare that keeps on giving.

Or, it could be "Sour Grapes" pure and simple. I guess we'll see.

RK is going to get him a job there to make up for things. Mayo’s such a giver and will be great there.

So one of my IT job interviews 20 years ago was at a strip club in the VIP Room in South Florida. Long story short I got the job. True story.

That in ft laud? Or the border between ft laud and Dania?

I hope she writes a book. Let's get all the mudslinging done now so things can be about football come training camp.

If Mayo does too much public fire breathing, he just may cement his position as someone who will never have an NFL job opportunity again. People in that league NEVER forget cases of loose lips.
