Mayo's Intoductory Press Conference

Good Christ - was anyone complaining about Romeo Crennel? Pepper Johnson? Ivan Fears? And I seem to remember an entire fanbase screaming for a black QB over Drew Bledsoe.

I hear ya. Some of the digs felt a bit unnecessary but on the whole I didn’t have a problem with him highlighting what he would do differently from Bill.

In terms of the sucking up thing though? That’s how it works with careers. You don’t think Bill Belichick sucked up to Kraft and talked **** about Parcells to him?

I was a lower mid-level associate and I had a managing partner I had huge respect for. He had some pro-bono projects taking positions I thought were ridiculous and I told him as much (in a friendly joking manner) and effectively that I hoped he wasn't successful with them.

We both laughed that I thought his pro bono cases were outrageous. And then months later he was there pushing head office for bigger raises for me than my colleagues and telling me partnership was in my future. I never had to suck up to the guy, I just did good work.

Both the people who do the sucking up and the people who promote those who suck up to them are thoroughly pathetic.

I don't care what transpired the last couple of years, you don't disrespect the guy that drafted you, coached you to an all pro level, that gave you an opportunity to coach on the Patriots and someone that mentored you. He came across as sucking up to RK. As I said, maybe I am wrong on this , I really hope he does well and am rooting for him to do so, I just didn't like some of the tone of the press conference..

I didn’t listen to the presser. Frankly I don’t really care about the Pats right now. Doesn’t matter who they hired, I’m annoyed they fired BB from fan pressure.

I’m sure I’ll get over it and root for them by the time the season rolls around but as of now, Kraft annoys me.

But, what digs did he make? I’ll try to listen to it at some point but hoping for cliff notes lol

Words are cheap may be true but it’s not really applicable when the words are responding to do you have a plan and those words amount to “no”.

Of course what they actually do is what matters but all we gave so far to assess how we feel that’s going to go is who they are and what they say.
It’s not looking optimistic in that way.

I guess my experience is that introductory press conferences don’t usually lay out a huge vision such as you expect.
