Really Joe Judge?I’m not convinced the source isn’t still just Joe Judge.
Why would Judge stab Bill when Bill has been so good to him.

It means he's blowing out the coaching staff, and bringing in his guys, whoever they are. Although I'd guess he's spent the last year lining those guys up, so it won't take long.Another thought: Does Mayo being the source of the leaks to speed up BB's dismissal so that he can get the job make anyone think about Mayo a bit differently? If that's true then he backstabbed the guy who drafted him and groomed him. How does that fare for future personnel decisions or players and other coaches trusting him?
How...can you not be convinced? After Kraft's slurring presser, it was exactly what Curran said. It never even crossed my mind that Mayo would do that - but now it makes total sense, given everything that's happened the last year. Also, Mac Jones being the ONLY QB on the roster after preseason was a pretty clear message as to what Belichick's options were as far as QB after 2022.I’m not convinced the source isn’t still just Joe Judge.
One interesting point here: Rapoport was saying today that this means the Patriots can hire Mayo without going through the normal search process. If he must be the HC, then why not just say that outright?Oh ****. @ctpatsfan77 mentioned this potential clause a few times. Surprised it is still permitted.
Explains how Curran could be so certain he’s the guy if he was tipped off about the contractual guarantee.
Makes me wonder - he’s also so certain about Eliot Wolf, maybe it’s the same thing? Wolf is guaranteed the GM job if Bill leaves? That would explain why Wolf hasn’t left yet… been wondering about that for a couple years now.
Elaborate on the last part.How...can you not be convinced? After Kraft's slurring presser, it was exactly what Curran said. Will be interesting if they start requesting interviews. One interesting point here: Rapoport was saying today that this means the Patriots can hire Mayo without going through the normal search process. If he must be the HC, then why not just say that outright?
Why would Mayo ever leak this? It would do nothing but get him ill will from Bill and anyone loyal to him including the fans. His best play is to watch everything play out if he already has an agreement.I’m not convinced the source isn’t still just Joe Judge.
The numbers I gave you are all football coaches at all levels.Yes I
There are more White coaches because more of them get hired at a higher rate. The stats show that 80-90% of coaches are former NFL and college players. Majority of college and NFL players are minorities and yet they are minority in coaching.
When you take into account that disparity it basically means a White former player is several times more likely to get hired to be a coach than a former Black player.
The general population % don't mean anything because coaches overwhelmingly do not come from the general population. They come from former college and NFL ball players.
Correct. Interestingly enough, the original rule gave the picks to the team hiring, not losing, the coach.I don't know the rule but if you are hiring someone you aren't losing the development you put into them, you are actually benefitting from it so it wouldn't qualify.
Who said mayo was the source of leaks and why would leaks affect the decision?Another thought: Does Mayo being the source of the leaks to speed up BB's dismissal so that he can get the job make anyone think about Mayo a bit differently? If that's true then he backstabbed the guy who drafted him and groomed him. How does that fare for future personnel decisions or players and other coaches trusting him?
As part of staying on for 2023, he had to agree to have Mac Jones as the starter. His *****ing to Kraft and the media started back in 2022. There is no doubt that was one of the conditions, and, in retrospect, Belichick was telling everyone that he had no choice as to who the QB was.Elaborate on the last part.
It's pretty clear now that he was, and many people have put that together.Who said mayo was the source of leaks and why would leaks affect the decision?
FYI those numbers are only about HCs not all coachesThe overwhelming majority of coaches either played NFL or college ball (83% of white coaches and 92% of minorities).
55%+ of players in college and 70%+ in MFL are minorities.
Yet minority head coaches are less than 20% and position coaches 30%. That is after 20 years of Rooney rule. Imagine how bad it was before - probably single digits.
How is it clear? It's pretty clear now that he was, and many people have put that together.
As far as his leaking affecting his personnel decisions, I doubt it does at all - I'm sure Bob Kraft was well aware.
The numbers I gave you are all football coaches at all levels.
The fact that a high percentage of nfl players are black does not mean a high percentage of those who wish to go into coaching are black.
Less than 9% of all football coaches in America are black. Within a few % points of the total population percentage. It appears black people are about equally as likely to want to to be football coaches add white people are.
There are more white coaches because there are more white employees. I’d imagine there are more white accountants, grocery clerks, teachers, crossing guard, policeman, nurses, etc etc.
I think where we are off here is that you are assuming everyone wants to be a football coach when really most would rather do something else.
The clause may be a succession plan “at their discretion”, so to speak. It would be something that they can choose to execute or not execute, like an option year on a contract. One interesting point here: Rapoport was saying today that this means the Patriots can hire Mayo without going through the normal search process. If he must be the HC, then why not just say that outright?
Everything Curran said and has said would happen, from 2022 onward has happened just like he said. There is one person who he has a relationship with in the organization that would know that much detail. How is it clear?
This is what I’ve been saying. Thread title misleading. The clause may be a succession plan “at their discretion”, so to speak. It would be something that they can choose to execute or not execute, like an option year on a contract.
