Am I reading too much behind the all interview new OC next week but is that meaning that it will not be BOB? Am I the only to think that they would just offer the job to BOB ?

Are they conducting interviews just in case BOB doesn’t come here or do they know that he will not come here? Reminder that we hoped that BOB would be the OC in 2022 but he was supposed to be the Bucs OC if Leftwich was hired by the Jags.

I was never a huge fan of BoB but after reading the analysis on the top 5 OC candidates on main page, I think he fits what is needed best CONSIDERING our current QB situation. Now if the Pats decide to move on from Jones this obviously doesn’t matter anymore! But his connection now to the exact O that Jones ran/played in for 3-4 years in Alabama might expedite progress quickly for next year. Now here’s the next piece of the puzzle …..You MUST have several Elite WR to run it…..OL is biggest priority in draft/FA…..WR is close second

As long as Steve works for Dad, his legitimacy as a coach will be a question. He needs to cut the cord and go prove himself with another team. Absent that, his longer term future is questionable given Bill's age and inevitable exit in the relatively near term.

Been saying the same thing for years. Hopefully, this all means Kraft has said the same directly to Bill. And, Mayo has said, "I won't work here anymore if the kid stands between me and greater responsibility."

Here's what's going to happen:
1. They interview two external minority candidates for Defensive Coordinator, which leaves everyone in hysterics about the stupidity of the NFL rule (Someone then points out that the rule is written with the assumption that internal candidates are white, blatantly highlighting a racist blind spot).
2. Mayo moves on to Carolina HQ job.
3. Pats hire one of the two minority candidates, but he looks like an old white guy to everyone.
4. Pats clarify that he's 1/8 Native American and might be bisexual, so he counts as a minority, and kicks the question to the NFL general counsel.
5. Mayo leaks it that the Pats would only give him a 5% pay raise; BB justifies it by saying, "that's twice what I got when Parcells promoted me, and four times what my Dad made when he was a coach."
6. They interview two external minority candidates for Offensive Coordinator, then hire Patricia, and claim he's a minority because of his eating disorder, then attack anyone who questions it as "a body image bigot."
7. Stevie is promoted to assistant HC and given a 6% raise.

Probably not, but it also depends on how much pressure the owners are under given the Flores situation. There are 2 black NFL coaches, Mike McDaniel and Todd Bowles. Internally the league is having huge discussions about a 70% black player league with only 2 head coaches. I'm saying if Mayo becomes HC he takes Steve along out of familiarity and loyalty.

I like Mayo so I also want him to stay. I don’t have any strong feelings about Stevie but overall I’m satisfied enough with the defensive coaching staff.

Glad to hear they will interview some OCs. Off-season definitely off to a better start. Remains to be seen if Mayo does return and we get a quality OC.

There's a bit of a logjam at defensive coaching positions.

Mayo, we assume will be DC. That makes Stevie B what exactly? I've been impressed with both, if Mayo's assertion is true that he designs the plays and Steve calls them. Will that still be the modus operandi?

Then we have DeMarcus Covington as DLine coach, who those in the know suggest is the exceptional talent on our coaching staff. His path to DC is pretty much non existent and he will be sought after elsewhere for sure.

Right. All teams spend to the cap. They have to. It's the cash flow that matters to the Owner. That's why teams like NO and Rams are in trouble, they kept borrowing from the future to stay under the cap.

But doesn't it all net out in the long term? And other than maybe Mark Davis, do NFL owners really have a problem with short term cash flow imbalances?

Would he stay here as DC vs taking a HC job?

I feel like there has to be some discussion about that, and potentially mayo being here long term a maybe succeeding BB.. sort of like how the Steelers did it with Tomlin. However this is good news without a doubt, and that the team is publicly announcing it's to seek a OC and actually name the person the title!

So many of the great BBs moves went under the radar for many seasons due to all the winning we had.. an undefeated regular season and countless 14-2 , 13-3 12-4 seasons! This season really put the spot light on things internally.

I'm inclined to say he may be the future HC, once BB hangs them up. Wouldn't surprise me if this is a way of showing it?

It just hit me that all this speculation based on a few tidbits of information reminds me of 60's and 70's Kremlinology where all the analysts used to speculate who was up and who was down based on who was standing next to whom at Moscow military parades. Yes, I'm that old

Unless Joe Judge is staying QB coach there was no mention of them interviewing for a new QB Coach which is required

Following the 2022 Spring League Meeting, NFL teams are now required to conduct outside interviews with a minority and/or female candidate for vacant QB coach positions

You're reading what you want into this straightforward press release. You want the reigns taken from BB so you're imagining that's what's happening behind the scenes.

There's nothing in this short press release that states or otherwise implies that BB isn't going to have 100% say in who coaches on his staff.

As everyone else has already said, this is such an un-BelickickEraPatriotsMove but I'm glad to see it happened. Last season was a dumpster fire and BB's halo lost some of it's lustre. This is an admission of that. Time to move on. In BB we trust etc.
