Maybe one of the most unclutch defenses of the BB era.

Am I wrong here? Every time we’ve needed a stop late in the game to get the ball back, this defense chokes. Like clockwork. It’s pretty ridiculous and I’m not sure exactly why that is. We used to be really sound in these situations.

They're reliably unreliable. Don't ever even get your hopes up if it comes down to needing one more stop. Save your voice when you're at Gillette too. The sound of a thousand suns exploding wouldn't help them

Great way to finish!

Just blame the black hole that is Miami
Did the same thing at Gillette week 1. And vs. Dallas, Indy and Buffalo.

I’m more frustrated because this at times has appeared to be a really good defense. I expected less from a defense like the 2011 defense. I don’t get why this defense can look incredible one week and porous the next.

It’s the whole team man. No consistency at all. We are entering the postseason the same way we started the season. Slow starts, no rhythm, mental mistakes out the ass. The team has exceeded my expectations this season, but it’s still disappointing.

yes, the defense has failed every time they've had a chance to get the ball back for the offense since beating San Diego. the offense philosophy does not help. coach bill manages things so close to the vest offense that 1 turnover is a death sentence. I was singing their praises after they won in SD, Philips had the big pick, and they made plays all over the field. and now we're here and it looks like this leopard ain't changing their stripes. if the opponents give the ball away they might have a chance next week...but if they come out flat and find themselves down 14-0 again it's Katy Bar the Door....

Already looking @ 2022 draft and FAs...

Definitely, not in the caliber of many of the playoff teams (AFC or NFC), yet.

Jags shut down Taylor... Taylor runs monster-truck trends over Patriots....

Go figure!

Often, in games the D has “kept them in it”, they allow a score after the offense put up points.

The 2021 Patriots are a good, not great team, that has a frustrating way of shooting themselves in the foot at crucial times. They never give up, but they aren’t a steamroller capable of overcoming miscues.

I hope they regroup and show their best next weekend. I’d love to see them win a playoff game.

But there is no question that a few 3rd down Tua runs really, really hurt today.

I’m hoping for a very fast athletic LB to spy some of these slippery qbs. The play call to the miami no name Te was a great call and a hat tipper. The tua 3rd down run has been the Pats achilles heal this season. They are not the only team having trouble stopping it though. 70% of starting qbs in this league are mobile enough to make that play. You need a LB just as mobile. Unfortunately they don’t grow on trees.

spot on! Too much hype - both media and mentally. In the big moments they over-pursue, over-peak at the QB and leave guys wide open. Dropped 2 INT opportunities. Big stupid penalties.
I'm not saying the offense was good, but came alive in the 4th after going in too big of a hole.

inability to set the edge,
There is no excuse for this. Teams are continuing to run right at Judon for this very reason.

If DEs are going to charge up the field and leave lanes open, the defense needs ball chasers that can go sideline to sideline to sideline and we don't have 'em.

Can't argue that. Needed clutch stops in the following games:
Miami
Saints
Bucs
Cowboys
Texans
@ Bills
Indy
Bills
@ Miami

They made the stops in 2 of those games , Texans and @ Buffalo . Thats 2 out of 9, pretty awful in the clutch
