Nonsense to me. Luka isn’t turning down the super max. Dallas is a good market, good team, was just in the finals. Judging by what has been reported and what he said he didn’t want this.I read that Luka told the Mavs he was not going to sign his supermax and wanted to take his services elsewhere. So the Mavs traded him while they could at least get something out of it. That makes the most sense to me.
Ummm yeah. So you have a dude who was winded in the second half of Finals games. You have AD who is very injury prone.????????????????????????
Seriously???????????
I'll just say that 99% of the people I've talked to/read, outside the Boston area, and that definitely know ball (Not even including myself) are disagreeing with youUmmm yeah. So you have a dude who was winded in the second half of Finals games. You have AD who is very injury prone.
Where exactly am I wrong? Hell I'm more of a fan of AD than overrated Luka.
The people who think this was a horrendous trade, well you don't know ball. Hell its why I put Tatum AND Brown over Luka. Highly overrated, doesn't play any defense. The fact thats all they got for him is a major tell. People in the league who aren't the fawning media know a hell of a lot better. As do NBA front offices.
He only talked to the Lakerslistening to a Mavs podcast it sounds like the GM legit thinks AD gets them closer to a title. The return still makes no sense to me however unless there is another shoe about to drop. But why help the MFin Lakers by trading them a 25 YO guy that can be their future? There weren’t any other suitors??
Thats because they are deluded into thinking Luka is some magical player. Newsflash, he isn't. He is all shine and people fall for that all the time. Have you talked to GMs? Team ownership?I'll just say that 99% of the people I've talked to/read, outside the Boston area, and that definitely know ball (Not even including myself) are disagreeing with you
but hey, alright
He only talked to the Lakers
Terrible GM
Link? Because I’ve heard that there was literally no shopping around at allthere is a report out there they had another trade offer last week that they turned down.
Only way it turns out to be a possible C grade is if AD wins a chip for them lolLink? Because I’ve heard that there was literally no shopping around at all
Surprised to see some defenders here of this trade, kudos to everyone for putting out their opinions. I guess we’ll see in a few years
To get myself on the record, I think it’s pretty indefensible that they didn’t seem to shop around, unless they only had eyes for Davis, which seems weird. And I think ultimately this will be shown to be a horrifically bad trade for Dallas

Trading Luka made a ton of sense on the Mavs side. I don't blame them for trading him. If they thought he was "salvageable" they wouldn't have done the deal.I'm probably in the minority but I am siding with Dallas. Yes, right now Luka is a prolific scorer but players who get fat and out of shape in the offseason and have weight fluctuation typically have careers that suddenly fall off the cliff.
That time is not now, but the day is coming. And it won't take much; a severe sprain or something like that, for his game to seriously suffer.
Yep. I think in 3-4 years the Mavs are going to look like geniuses. Luka isn't getting any younger, and conditioning is essential to staying healthy and being a consistent performer into the playoffs. Imagine how good he'd be if he got in shape and played both ends of the court?Dallas simply did not want to give Luca a supermax deal and the concerns about his conditioning, legs, and defense are warranted.
I can see not being an elite defender. HoFs like Magic played D at a passable level. I get it. But Magic was always in great shape and played hard.Yep.
