I loved Light, but to pretend that he was more than an solid LT that benefited from great coaching and a QB who could get rid of the ball fast is really a practice in self-deception.
He never took over a game or dominated like Seymour or even Vrabel.
All three players belong in the Pats HoF and will all eventually get there, denigrating one as merely solid because he got there ahead of your preferred choice seems a bit off . Light was right there protecting Tommy Brady before he became Tom F Brady, master of all he surveys. He was a bit more than a 'solid LT' as evidenced by being a Pro Bowler. LT by the very nature of the position is not a position that takes over games, the less you hear a LT's name when he is on the field the better the job he is doing. I think him getting the nod over players whose names we did hear a lot says good things about the people that recognize that and appreciated just how good he was at not getting his name heard often on game day rather than illustrating they somehow deceived themselves. Understanding YMMV
I'll admit, that crossed my mind, as wellI wonder if he’ll accept it given how ashamed he is to be a Patriot.
