Mason Graham vs Abdul Carter

Carter is especially impressive playing with an injured shoulder. Hopefully he gets back to 100% in the offseason. I would still take Graham over Carter even after what Carter showed tonight. But I understand the discussion.

Graham seems to be the better run stopper. I'd go with the bigger body at #4.

Unless Graham is viewed as the next Big Sey or Aaron Donald clone, I would pass.

I am digging into the research, so many holes on the roster almost any position except QB is open for discussion. My brief study of free agents and the draft suggest we can buy improvements to WR and O Line in free agency and then pick BPA at an area of need, Graham and Carter are both intriguing.

Graham is one of the most consistent players I can remember, from snap to snap and game to game. And when you can generate consistent interior disruption, you elevate the edges and db's
If John Hannah had played DT….

If it comes to that choice, I'd rather trade down multiple times to the late teens and see how much draft capital that nets us.

I don't think Hunter makes it to #4 I do agre we need a dt badly and Graham is the best. Just wondering if anyone thinks we could trade down a little and still get Graham? Thoughts
Graham is projected to go in the early teens. So yes a small trade down could be possible if someone covets Carter and Vrabel wants to get a big DL instead of an explosive edge rusher.

Honestly though the elephant in the room is the Left Tackle position.

IF we can get a solid LT in free agency that would relieve so much pressure in the draft to take OL early.

The top prospects I hear for OL are Campbell, Kelvin Banks Jr, Josh Connerly Jr., and Josh Simmons.

Campbell will likely be the first Ol taken, but is #4 too early for him?

My two cents.

If the Pats want to take an OT, I like a trade down scenario to 10ish. Get Banks or Campbell if available with that pick. If those two are gone at 10ish, take BPA and get Conerly in late round 1 (with a trade) or with their 2nd round pick. Simmons is a beast but boom or bust with the knee concern.

Maybe I'm looking at earlier mocks then. But Walter Football currently has Graham at #10 in their mock that came out 4 days ago.

With Vrabel coming onboard, I doubt Walters is correct that the Pats will select Tet McMillan. Vrabel wants to build the trenches. OT candidates are too weak, so I think it will be Carter or Graham. Walter lists 2 DEs before Graham, that would surprise me.

I’m counting on Barmore playing in 2025, therefore my choice is Carter.

My biggest worry about Graham is this. QB’s are getting more and more athletic. Jackson, Allen, Mahomes and Herbert. Not sure a guy like Graham has quickness and change of direction to get them. Carter does. I like Graham. But Cater a little more for modern NFL.

DTs don't have the same positional value they once did. I'd go with Carter.

Two completely different players. DT’s are never going to have the speed to chase fast QB’s down, DE’s generally do. What pass rushing DT’s do is get pressure right at the QB’s feet, which is extremely disruptive. DE’s are more likely to get the sacks off the edge.
