Marshall Faulk on NFLN

Don't want to speak for someone else but I think he meant the DENVER D is #2. Not ours. At least that is how I read it.

(that is, that our #4 most efficient offense would beat their #2 ranked D.)

geez. A 'pop culture' reference that was "popular" for less than 60 days before its demise.

Ninja, next time please try for something with a little more staying power - less obscure.

I didn't say it. I know the meaning of that term. I also find it idiotic.

You need to cut your "efficiency" crap. This is not the "#2 most efficient D" under any circumstances. They give up the 2nd most yards and 14th(?) most points. The only thing we've done a great job at is creating turnovers, that is NOT something you can bank on every game.

What evidence do you have of our "#2 defense" slowing down the average offense?

We gave up 488 yards and 24 points to Miami's below average offense.
We gave up 448 yards and 34 points to Buffalo's pretty average offense.
We gave up 504 yards and 19 points to Oakland's average-below average offense.
We gave up 427 yards and 25 points to Pittsburgh's below average offense.
We gave up 463 yards and 27 points to Washington's below average offense.
We gave up 437 yards and 24 points to Indianapolis' below average offense.
We gave up 393 yards and 23 points to Denver's "#27 offense".
We gave up 374 yards and 24 points to Miami's below average offense.
We gave up 402 yards and 21 points to Buffalo's pretty average offense.

What about these makes your think we have the "#2 defense"? Your defensive efficiency crap is garbage. The only reason we won these games is because our offense caught fire at one point or another and scored 30+ points in 12 of our 16 games.

Very few teams not sporting our offense would be able to win those games.

Yes, our defense made some stops and forced turnovers, but they still are nothing close to the #2 defense. They are what they are, the 14th best in points allowed, paired with the #3 scoring offense.

Edit: And I don't even hate our D, but they are what they are, and that is not #2. They keep too many opponents alive in games that shouldn't be, but they do make some clutch plays.

Look

An even bigger idiot than Marshall Faulk.

Someone forward this guy's resume to NFLN.

I know, he's saying the Patriots defense is much closer to being pretty bad than number 2 in the league. Shocking!

For the number of times that Marshall Faulk is wrong (and he is wrong about this prediction too!) and still keep his job, he should move over to the Weather Channel and start predicting the weather!

Pats put up 41 points at altitude in Denver
Pats are coming off a week of rest and are the healthiest they have been all season
BB had two weeks and two offensive coordinators to prepare a game plan
Denver has to fly across country after a short week
Denver only put up 23 pts (incl a meaningless TD late in the 4th Qtr) against our D at home
Pats Defense plays much better at home
Tebow ran wild in the 1st Quarter ... what did he do the rest of the game?
Tebow completed only 10 passes for an avg of 31.6 YPC in the Wild Card game. He won't average that against the Pats.
They will sit in the zone and wait for Tebow to make a mistake ... which he will.

Instead of bagging on the guy, you should go read the post where he makes the statement about the Pats being the #2 most efficient defense. He backs up his statements with sound reasoning. BTW, that is different than being the #2 defense as you are claiming..

Faulk just has his ax to grind because the Pats beat his @$$ for the Superbowl! He has never forgotten that and is still bitter 10 years later. He feels he was cheated ... poor boy! I would love to be on a panel with him on one of these shows! He would pick anyone over the Pats. He is so jealous!

Watched a bit of this last night. I found it comical that he was on a discussion panel with Willie McGinest - who was instrumental in chipping his azz to the ground during the Superbowl.

Which is why he'll always have a personal vendetta against the Pats. He hates us. It's so obvious.

I'm saying that NFLN can get the same tortured, tragic "thinking" and "analysis" from this guy......at a fraction of the cost of a Marshall Faulk.

Marshall HAS to be oblivious to the concept the Patriots and Broncos played a few weeks ago.

This guy HAS to be fixated on stuff independent of reality.

As I have posted before....and as these two games provide as the poster children.....the two most important points of a defense is:

Can you execute a gameplan

Can you make adjustments.

...yeah it's fun to talk about how much of an idiot he is and all that, but everyone around here knows how bitter he is.

Making that pick is a win win for him. If NE wins they were "supposed" to win anyways and if Denver wins it's an "I told you so".

Seriously, let's not precious interenet space or our valuable time posting on this dude.

He is so predictable when it come to our team. Their dynasty was not born that night, it was in fact dismantled...

This guy has genuine dislike towards the Pats...I think he's paid in part to be that way as well, but I do think he is blinded a little by his hatred for the team and the Superbowl 36 defeat.

I tweeted this guy once that I hated him for his constant blinded Patriots analysis...the guy took major offense, tweeted me back and kindly asked me to unfollow him I would have had it meant it would mean I could get rid of him, but considering I still have to put up with his mug on NFLN, I didn't see the point...would still have to put up with his BS.

Great player, with a mind heavily influenced by personal grievances!

When KEVIN Faulk says something bad about the Patriots, post it, it's news.
When MARSHALL Faulk says anything about the Patriots, ignore it because it's nothing new.

Marshall Faulk picking against the Pats, wow didn't see that coming.

Every time Willie has to do a segment with Faulk, he should war his 2001 Superbowl Ring.

Provocative post. The first thought was that the New England Patriots went 7-2 in the games you selected.

I also looked at the games you selected to make your point and compared the points allowed to the league average of 22.17 ppg. The only outlier (more than 5 points from the average output) was the first Buffalo game which the Patriots lost. That single game proves your point that the possibility exists for the Broncos to win if the Patriots lose the turnover battle. We all live in fear of that. The Patriots defense is consistent in holding their opponents to the low 20s while they score more than 30.

The Patriots held the Broncos to 23 in December, just .83 points more than the average ppg for the entire NFL season. Fine, spot them 23 points again. That would be roughly 4 points more than the Bronco's average of 19.03 points per game.

Can the Broncos hold the Pats under their average output for the season of 32.06. ppg? They couldn't come close in December when the Patriots served up a big hot juicy 40-burger to John Fox and his team.

Picking and choosing games from a 16-game season won't make anybody think the Broncos could remotely be a favorite in this one. If both teams score and allow their averages, we're looking at a Patriots win by more than a touchdown no matter how you look at it.

This all goes to show how badly the Pittsburgh Steelers performed on the road and how their injuries and missing players depleted them. The Steelers walked into a buzz saw. My feeling is if that game were played in Pittsburgh and the Steelers were at full strength, Pittsburgh would have crushed the Broncos.

Just as Tim Tebow's eye black says: 31-6 (Patriots)

He is taking the Broncos because the Pats had the nerve to derail his dynasty and he has never gotten over it.

Faulk is an all-time patriots hater since we whooped him in the super bowl

Every time Willie has to do a segment with Faulk, he should war his 2001 Superbowl Ring.

Willie should just tackle him using a head-butt. If NFLN execs object he can just tell them he was demonstrating helmet-to-helmet.

I'm from San Diego and even in a land where Faulk is treated as god people are starting to get annoyed by him here, too. Statistical rankings often mean very little to anyone but analysts and fans that can't put together an argument without using stats. It's all about match ups and I like the way we match up versus Denver.

Marshall, listen to me, it's time. It's time to let go my friend. That loss happened a long, long time ago. It's OK, you can let it go now.

Yeah I watched that. It's not what Faulk says, but how he says it. One thing that ticked me off was when Willie said that this time around that Belichick has more information, Faulk gets all uppity and starts squeeling like a little girl "What do you mean Belichick has INFORMATION" and repeating it as if BB is cheating. It was obvious that Willie was talking about game film to study but Faulk had to try to turn it into something it is not. Willie looked like he really wanted to smack him.
