Some really good news that he has lost the red jersey. Does he get any snaps this week against the Panthers?

I'd rather he not the offensive line keeps looking offensive and the Panthers are gonna play hard after that joke against the Eagles.

Maroney's first action shouldn't be any earlier till week 1 of the real season same with Moss.

The run blocking was fine this past week. I would have to assume that NE has carefully monitored Maroney's progress and see no reason why he couldn't play a little this week.

Belichick made it sound pretty certain that Maroney would be getting some reps against the Panthers.

If he's healthy, get him some reps.
No contact is not the same as getting a bit of the slobber knocked out of you.
If he's going to be our workhorse, he will need to get up to speed.

Maroney needs a few hits before the first game. Now is right time. He should sit out the last preseason game. Quenton Smith should start.

It sounds like you think the last pre-season game will be "can't miss television".. I hope to see him play this week to get a sense of how he looks against a solid defense.

knowing BB he's gonna play him the entire game.

Q: Did Laurence look good yesterday after his first practice?
BB: Well, I think he’s been consistent all the way through camp. He’s been limited a little bit in the contact part of it, but he’s been able to do everything else and the contact has increased a little bit here in the last couple of weeks. I think he’s taken another step and he’s a step closer. He’s closer to being ready to play now than he was a week ago and he was closer a week ago that he was two weeks ago. I know he’s anxious to get in there and get some reps this week, so I’m sure he’ll get some.

I previously posted that BB made it sound "certain" ...but on rereading it, notice that Maroney's not "ready to play", he is "closer to being ready to play". :singing:

I bet he'll get a few snaps against the Panthers, but as someone else mentioned, I would rather see both Maroney and Moss sit out until week 1.

In 2005, Deion Branch was a healthy scratch from all preseason games.
