Malcolm Butler

Turned out to be ghostery for me blocking twitter.

That's crazy talk. Ryan isn't even close to Hobbs.

Only aspect that Hobbs is/was better than Ryan was in man to man coverage.

Malcolm is better than Hobbs.
Ryan is better than Hobbs

Malcolm is better than 03-05 Asante
06-07 Asante is better than Malcolm.

Malcolm is also stronger, faster and is a much better tackler than Asante was. With that said, Asante had an elite nose for the ball.

Asante was essentially good at one thing, and he was exceptional at it. He could read the QB cold and made big plays. He sucked the air right out of the RCA Dome with his pick 6 in that painful championship game.

That said, I prefer Butler. He gambles a lot like Asante did, but he's only in his 2nd year and that should improve.

He's far more physical, he's a Charles Tillman type who is always punching at the ball. Plus he'll stand over you and let you know that you suck and that he's Malc.

Asante wanted to Get Paid, Butler strikes me as the type who wants to Get Rings. I'm not bashing Asante, he was just a finesse guy and I love how fearless Butler is.

I can't figure out whether your issue is a wild underrating of Hobbs, a ridiculous overrating of Ryan, or both, so there's really no use in continuing this.

Remember how much unfair crap Hobbs got on here when he was actually playing then take it from there.

Butler has been the most impressive year 2 free agent pickup I have seen wear a Patriot uniform.

He is after 5 games a #1 corner this year and I only see the corners the Patriots play, but against that competition I think he has shown the best. Pro bowl play from what I have seen. Then again the other corners are facing Brady and our receiving core.

Will be interesting to see how he compares with Revis. I know if I had to pick today which cornerback I would want 3 to 5 years from now it would be without doubt Butler.

Lets settle on your overrating of Hobbs and your undervaluing of Ryan and and call it a day.

Hobbs was serviceable. Thats it

FYI:

Logan Ryan has a 52.1 QB rating against.

Only CBs with a lower QB rating against

Ronald Darby (49.3)
Patrick Peterson (43.6)
Patrick Robinson (37)
Darelle Revis (32.8)
Josh Norman (24.1)

Logan Ryan has actually been comparable to Chris Harris Jr. so far this year. Who apparently from what I read on here from people like Deus is a top CB. Yet according to them Harris has been great this year, whereas Logan Ryan has been bad.

Ryan-
Targets 22
Rec 15
68.8 %
164 yards
10.9 avg
Long- 23 yards
0 TD allowed
2 INT
1 PD

Harris Jr
Targets 32
Rec 21
65.5%
190 yards
9.0 avg
Long- 30 yards
0 TD
2 INT
1 PD
55.5 QB Rating against

Not a Ryan hater but I don't think he's spent much time covering a receiver whose name I could even remember.

So when Ryan plays bad it's "told ya, he sucks" and when he plays solid it's "well he's going against nobody"

People can't have their cake and eat it too. If he sucks as bad as people make it out to be then it wouldn't matter who he is going up against, those players should beat him if he is as bad as people say.

it won't. you can't name 10 defenses better than this one? do you watch any football other than patriot games? have you ever gotten off of your couch and picked up a football and actually played? easy to point to points scored, but the 2011 defense was 15th in scoring... do you really think that defense was the 15th best defense in the league? that's a silly thing to say. we lost in the playoffs that year because of our defense. this defense is better than that one, but top 10? really? at this point, i'm going with around 15th.
God you are an insufferable prick, please name the 14 defenses better

Don't really disagree with you. Except I don't think you can compare his numbers to #1 corners across the league who take the other team's best receiver every game.

Butler and Ryan can show Samuel and Hobbs their superbowl rings. Ryan had a bad matchup but it's a team sport and Butler lifted all the dbs up, even Revis gave up a td that day. I'm glad Ryan is getting his opportunity and he looks to have learned from his mistakes.

You are aware that Samuel has 2 SB rings right?

I don't think we know for sure yet if Butler is a money or a rings guy. You seriously never know what will happen when you reach these levels of success.
