Listen it both sides have mended the fences, why not? He’s not a solution by any means to our issues if JC were to leave, but it wouldn’t hurt to have an extra vet in the room for depth, maybe someone to push Mills on the opposite side.

He should be cheap and you can never have enough dbs.

Isn't this the same guy who was supposed to be the savior in SB52? He's bounced around with 3 teams now...

i havent really followed Butler's career since he left, how has he done since leaving? Did he live up to the big salary he demanded in free agency?

Not sure how good he still is. If anything close to how he was here then in a friggin heartbeat.

Could be a good CB3 or 4 even if he isn't close to his old self. I think there might be a burnt bridge here though.

Belichick is still here. Lil B is still here. Patricia is back. Who else is he mending fences with and can he play deep safety? Not sure he's cut out for CB any more. I just don't know tho. Bill is a stubborn SOB so I don't think it's happening but I've seen much stranger things.

Look, I don't pretend to have all the answers as to what is going on in this guy's head... but it seems like there's something amiss. He managed to do something to get himself benched for the SB, has bounced around the NFL a bit, and quit on his last team. Now he wants back in the league? Meh. 31 years old. Pass. Gimme youth.

Stranger things have happened and I know if BB thinks a player can help us, he will bring him in, but with that being said, I can't see this happening.

It be easier to see it happening if fat Patricia wasn't back

I don't see it happening. Also, I know we need competition at CB, but I think there are better guys we can get to do that. If all hatchets have been buried, AND Butler still has a little juice, AND he's willing to play on a one year prove it deal for short money (because we need a plan B if he doesn't have it any more), then sure, let him compete in camp. That's a lot of "ifs" though.

I would be interested in a Butler reunion. We brought back Jamie Collins TWICE.

And he would not be replacing JC Jackson nor Mills in the secondary. He would be competing with Myles Bryant and JoeJuan Williams.

On a related note, how is Jon Jones these days? Recuperating well I hope???

Hard pass. And he should feel the same way about coming back to NE.

His time in Tennessee is hard to gauge. Reading some comments from other boards and such, he sucked when he first got there but fans really warmed up to him. They say that his less-than-stellar play towards the end was more of a result of terrible scheming (what that scheme was, not sure, other than someone saying 'it literally seems like it was designed to make DB's look bad')

All that being said, I'd have a hard time thinking the stupid ass braintrust would let him back. I swear to God that single benching is the stupidest **** I've ever seen.

They're not always stupid. In fact, it's rare. But the handling of that is so annoying.

When has BB let past things bother him, if he thinks he can help he'll bring him in.
