Mac Jones Through 2 Games (2021 vs 2022 vs 2023) By QTR and Redzone Totals

So can we agree that Stevenson is a crap back and should be cut. He plays a huge role in not being able to get more than 20 points. He can barely get two yards past the line of scrimmage. He sucks.

See how this works.
Do you see how comparing a RB to a QB (the most important position in pro sports) is pretty darn intellectually bankrupt...? Apparently not.

There's a reason the franchise tag for QB's is over 3 times the franchise tag for RBs.

And Trevor Lawrence sucked year one didn't he? And guess what? He played worlds better in year two with a much better head coach and a system designed for him.

And even then it took a good portion of the season in his second year before he started to play. If you look at the first half of Lawrence's season last year, he had five games where he completed under 60% of his passes. In his first nine games last year, he only had 11 total TDs (finished the season with 25). Lawrence didn't start to show the promise he had until late November of last year.
I never thought in a million years after Brady left that the number one thing we would be griping about in terms of setting this team back would be coaching. It is surreal.

We had chances to upgrade the OL and are still sitting on a ton of cap. And we just kicked some more money to Brown. I think Bill thinks the Oline is more than serviceable.

Oh I agree with you. And I hope whatever Bill is thinking will workout. This O-Line makes it impossible to really understand more nuance behind Mac's mechanics/performance

I was making a hyperbolic statement to make a point. Do you really think I want to cut Stevenson? Stevenson's lack of product is directly tied to the offensive line too.

I think they can count on Henry and Bourne. I also think Pop has shown some real ability and I am just hoping Bill does not bench him for this game due to the fumble.
I agree, Douglas is the one I’m hoping for more from. Bourne right now has been inconsistent so far and Parker has been the one who I think leads the team with two catches where he’s moved the chains on third down. But it feels like it’s been a battle each time and no one has really stepped up yet, so I’m curious to see if that changes.

I never thought in a million years after Brady left that Bill Belichick would put a defensive coach with no offensive experience in charge of the offense and a second year QB. Again, any other head coach would have been fired for the Patricia move.

Belichick over the last few years seems to has lost his fast ball and/or hasn't adapted to today's NFL. He isn't the guy he was 10 or 20 years ago.

If you have been paying close attention, he lost his fastball IMO as a GM going back to 2017 ...

Yes and it was intellectually bankrupt.

You are trying to demonstrate how absurd it is to blame Jones by (hyperbolically) blaming Stevenson. That remains a ridiculous comparison.

If Pop can pop, the receiving corp will not be a huge concern. See what I did there.

If Douglas is a receiver that teams have to be concerned about even a little to have them put a little extra attention, that will open up other receivers.

I think if they get the line in order, the receivers are good enough to make the offense able to score more than 25 point.

Not sure about 2017. Although benching Butler in the Super Bowl is the start of some really bad decisions by him where he has put other priorities over winning.

They did win a Super Bowl in 2018. He has lost it as a GM ever since.

Apparently, you do not know what hyperbolic is. I purposely chose a comparison that isn't remotely the same and blew it out of proportion. That is hyperbole.

The NFL is QB driven league.

It's nothing but a pipe dream to claim that the Pats had the best offensive line talent when Brady was QB. Players like Solder left NE and failed. The QB makes or breaks the OL.

2023 will be the season to blame the OL as the reason why Corky struggles and loses.
In 2014 some fans and a large contingent of the media wanted BB to replace Tom Brady as the starter.

Was the problem Tom Brady?

Laughable...

Go back and look at the KC thread from that night. Brutal.

i dont need to twist myself into anything to see a team that cant score more than 20 ppg.

Its actually quite simple - just look at the score board after the game.
I just feel you are arguing based on opinions and not facts.

No QB including mahomes plays mistake free. Mac was served as a bait to all defenses by belichick for last year and half . Mac has miraculously survived instead of going the Zach Wilson route . You expect him to come blazing . That's only possible If Mac throws and catches by himself. That's unfortunately not possible due to laws of physics.

Please get any QB and put them in this nightmarish offense and notice the results are no different in fact worse.

Do you really believe our skill guys are lacking this year? I mean sure we don't have a Hill or Diggs but I think this is by far the best set of skill guys in the last few years.
I think if we had Boutte and Douglas on the field the point is valid. But unfortunately Parker and JuJu are just too slow to move the sticks and that showed in 3rd down attempts when you need to make a throw in less than 2 seconds.

Pin Both the losses on Bill. At this point I am getting a bit antsy about bill and think we might need to move in a different direction. BoB and mayo as joint HC's ???

On the bright side that game gave us this thread.

Toofy, the facts that matter are wins and losses. Everything else is opinion. Drew Brees is statistically one of the best QBs ever. Top three til mahomes surpasses him. Yards. Touchdowns. A Lombardi. Those are all facts. Yet, he's not a top 3 of all time.

Would I prefer that we have three receivers with the skills they have in Miami, in Cincy? Yes I would. Would I prefer we had an offensive line that earned the nickname the great northern wall? Sure would.

But we don't have that. What we need is a team that plays nearly mistake free football. And that starts with Mac Jones. He has to be good enough to make players better. Ian to a bit of umbrage when I said it earlier, but I stand by that statement. Yet, on a consistent basis, we see the same mistakes.

Are my expectations unfair? I don't rightly care if the are.

I don't know if we are seeing different games. Mac is playing like one of the best in the league. He has better stats than Mahomes at this point of time .

He makes some mistakes but his positive plays far exceed the number of bad plays. Mac was singularly responsible for 1 TD where he ran, improvised and made throws on run when pocket collapsed. We have never seen those before.

Please look at the video of bedard . It really sums it up. You are blaming the wrong horse. If I ask you to pull a train by yourself using a metal chain and you are not able to do it, the fault is not with you . The fault is with me asking you to do a impossible task. Belichick is asking Mac to make all impossible throws and play the perfect game even if all around him everyone plays like crap. That's not possible . That's unrealistic. We were lucky that the games were so close and huge credit goes to Mac for keeping us alive in both games.

Same goes for mac asking him to singularly win games despite offensive line breaking down, receivers not running fast , receivers getting out boxed on sideline by smaller cornerbacks .

You want a single person to blame. Blame Bill . Mac is terrific this season and hopefully he continues playing the same way for rest of season and doesn't get injured due to the shoddy OLine.

Right. And it was epic fail.

Didn't you call Mac an "undeniable... NFL starting caliber QB" a couple days ago? You're being fake here.

I will answer this from you. Being a starting caliber QB does not mean he is a top 10 or top 15 QB. There are 32 teams in this league.
