It's easy, and only takes a few moments.Even Alex Smith was really good when he got to play with Tyreek Hill Kareem Hunt Jamaal Charles and Travis Kelce. We saw that ourselves first hand twice...Barring that anomaly, most young QBs can't be successful without talented guys around them to help lift them up. That's just how it is. I mean, even an average veteran - Kirk Cousins in Minnesota isn't close to as successful as he is without Jefferson and Thelien, and he's the one people keep comparing Mac to. I think Mac is better than Cousins and it makes me wonder what he'd be with someone like Jefferson. I just don't get it.
They've played two games this year. That's the only "sample size" (his total stats) there is to work with...?Small sample sizes were used by the same author to defend Mac in 2022, as well.
Burrow and his super weapons have carried that pathetic offensive line to the playoffs the last two seasons, before the offensive line was ultimately the reason they lost in the playoffs. The Bengals have the 30th ranked offense.

This may have finally caught up to them, they're 0-2, Burrow is hurt and may not play this week.
It's the ultimate team sport, anyone who says one player controls the fate of 53 doesn't understand football.
If Burrow had a quality offensive line in front of him, he would have won back to back championships the last two years.
Football is won in the trenches.
The polar opposite of that team building is Roseman in Philly. He focuses entirely on line play, offensive and defensive, then once he has that he brings in some select pieces like AJ Brown to round out his roster. It is amazing that the only real issue the Bengals have had to fix the last three years has been protecting Burrow and their o-line is as bad today as it was in 2021.
Justin Herbert. Joe Burrows. Trevor Lawrence. Josh Allen. - each is a dynamic player in their own right. But thats not germane to the conversation because those players aren't available, nor will they become available in the near future. So don't deride the choice of Caleb Williams when its proffered, because future draft picks are the answer. This is the truth. None can answer and they acn come up with something like Caleb Williams when he hasn't yet suited up for a single game in NFL.
The number 1 pick in the draft is irrelevant to this conversation. As for the other guys, irrelevant, as they aren't here, and are not coming here. Mac is here. And all we hear are rationalizations for why he hasn't won. 99% of the time (hyperbole, because I have not read every thread and every post mentioning mac) post a criticism of mac, and those rationalizations start to flow within 2 or 3 posts. It would be refreshing to hear "mac screwed that one up, big time" instead of hearing "well his o-line is playing bad this week".For context draft 1 pick Bryce Jones has the worst passer rating so far. So nothing from draft is set in stone . Trevor Lawrence yet to light it up. Mahomes was the only one who showed immediate promise. It took Josh Allen 4 seasons to show his potential and Mac is just in his 3rd year with 1 year wasted by having a DC double up as OC and OT and an ST coach doubling as QB coach .
Letting Meyers go was a mistake. No doubt about it. He was much more than a safety valve, he was the guy who moved the chains. And in 3rd year 0 reinforcements in offense and allowing your biggest safety valve in Meyers leave for a not so big contract and getting JuJu who is significantly inferior so far
If Mac Jones wins the last two games, would he get the credit for the victories? You bet your bippies that he would. And ever single Mac Fanatics would relish in the fact, and be quite vocal about the fact that he finally had multiple game winning drives - That he had his statement games. Now yeah blame the QB who is behind the 2nd worst pass offensive line and still had the team in the game till the last minute to be robbed of the win by plays outside his control.
I am not trolling. I believe that we should be looking for another quarterback in the draft. Never wanted to draft him in the first place. The way things are rolling right now (things might change, you never know - and I hope they do) we are looking at a definite top 10, maybe even top 5 pick in the 2024 draft.I just wonder if people are really arguing or trolling in name of fans...
My argument to that has just been that Jones was the best option of who was available, not because I was a huge Mac Jones guy as I only watched him a handful of times in college if Alabama was on. That being said, who else did you want them to take? Because he's been among the few who has played reasonably well from that class so far...? Or did you have another QB in mind?I am not trolling. I believe that we should be looking for another quarterback in the draft. Never wanted to draft him in the first place.
I expected us to draft Mac given the way the draft was probably going to fall. Looking back I think the right move was to trade up for Parsons and then see where the QB chips fall. Maybe we could have gotten Mac anyway if we traded up again. In hindsight of course.I am not trolling. I believe that we should be looking for another quarterback in the draft. Never wanted to draft him in the first place.

But he didn't, so fairs fair, no? Vs Philly, he started the game with a pick six, and ended it with two drive killing sacks within the last three minutes. Vs Miami, in the closing minutes, takes yet another bad sack.

I would love nothing more than to be wrong. I would love it to have this anti-Mac stance rubbed in my face, and be to be served a huge dish of warmed-over crow. That would mean the Patriots are winning games, not just racking up "moral" victories.
This is an Offense Driven league. The rules are tailored to help offensive production to the detriment of the defense. Mac Jones is the leader of this offense, and it will go where he leads it. And so far, that basically means no where.
I posted this in another thread but I think it should be in this one too.
i dont tweeter, so this is what i could find after soending less then half a second on youtube
and that eagles game, the one where hw shows great pocket awareness - did we win?
oh and how many times was he sacked in the last 3 minutes of that game?
I swear living thru the Mac Jones years are like re-living the tony Eason years...
Yeah. Like I said earlier I'm starting to warm up to the idea that we are close to the end of the line for BB in NE. I think the time is almost here to have a serious conversation about BB's future in NE.To be honest Bill would have been fired last year if not for the super bowls and the recent string of events make it look even more apparent that bill has completely lost his fastball on offensive side and should be a football field distance away from anything related to pats offense .
at the time, Davis Mills, Stanford. My argument to that has just been that Jones was the best option of who was available, not because I was a huge Mac Jones guy as I only watched him a handful of times in college if Alabama was on. The reasoning was Mac looked good in college because it was the perfect situation. 'Bama had all the weapons. All the Linemen. Best of Show and all that.
Don't take running backs from Penn State
Don't take quarterbacks from Alabama or Florida
dont have access to the full replay. here are a few in the highlights viewAnything from this year? Anything for 2021 season other than two plays in the AFC Championship game? And most of the plays in these videos have nothing to do with pocket awareness and just some of Jones' worst plays.
Yes, there was a long stretch last year where he had horrible pocket awareness. It was after he got injured and might have been because he couldn't move that well because of his ankle. But that was the outlier. He had good pocket awareness (great for a rookie) in 2021, he had good pocket awareness down the stretch last year, and he has had good pocket awareness this year. Again, you formed an opinion about the guy based on six-eight games and are ignoring the facts that it was just a bad stretch for him.
And asking if he won the Eagles game is just goalpost moving and has nothing to do with his pocket awareness. Your original point was he was failing this year because of his poor pocket awareness. You have yet to provide any proof of that.
And I didn't realize that back in the Eason years people created false narratives about Eason. I just thought he sucked.
yeah? so?Tua is leading the league in passing right now. I know it is only week 3, but......
