Besides Tyreek Hill, Waddle and an OL that is playing lights out, what strengths are those?
Id argue that the Gulf between hill/waddle and parker/juju is much bigger.
Talent matters. Throwing up tuas stats doesn't really prove much. Put Tua on this team with the lowest amount of time to throw and he's NOT the best QB in the NFL with Bourne/parker lighting it up.
Did Brady magically get more talented between 2020-2021 when he added 15tds to his stats and had a better completion percentage? No he just went from garbage receivers/OL to elite ones.
I think it's being understated how the offense operates as a whole.
Fans are delusional to think you take out Mac Jones and throw some other guy in there and we are lighting it up. But I just fail to see what more Mac or any QB could do when you have 2 seconds to throw (worst in NFL) and receivers who can't separate and are slow.
Until you upgrade the offensive talent level the offense will never be elite. We saw it with Brady in 2019 throwing to Ben Watson and sanu.
Not to mention it's no sure thing we even get someone as good as Mac Jones. Look at the Jets or every other team drafting high. Heck look at every other QB from the Mac Jones draft.
Here's an answer
Yes Tua has better weapons
But Tua - before Tyreek and even before Waddle - showed flashes and the ability to even win shootouts and game-winning drives.
2020 - against the Cardinals (when they were 5-3), against the Chargers, etc. Tua also showed the ability to close out games against us when he's played us - 2020, and the 2nd game in 2021.
Keep in mind, that was with the same weapons Mac has now - Devante Parker and Mike Gesicki. As his 1st and 2nd options. He never even had a Hunter Henry player.
Beyond that Tua still has better traits than Mac. Physically speaking, Tua has more zip/velocity on intermediate (10-20 yard) throws. And his processing and ability to throw with anticipation was present in 2020. With Mac, it still isn't.
I don't think Tua is WAY better or anything.... but he is better.
Mac would obviously look than he does currently with better weapons, but Tua is still pound-for-pound the better QB.
Don't know how many people will read this but hopefully it answers the question on the Tua Mac debate.
