So, what exactly is wrong with what Losman said? I pretty much agree with most of it.
First of all, his point about the dollar amount of the fine was this: "I know there are some people that are saying that he deliberately did this and if that's the case then I don't think it's enough."
I agree with every word of that. If he did that deliberately, a $12,000 fine is stupid in a league that fines players $5,000 for chinstrap violations. If I was Losman, I'd feel exactly the same way and wouldn't have any problem saying it. If you decide it was a clean or inadvertent play, ok. Don't fine him. But once you decide he did something to deserve a fine $12,000 is insulting.
Coy Wire's statements in this article were a bit more inflammatory, but that's not on Losman. I agree with Losman, by the way, that it's at least debatable whether Vince could have avoided the contact. I know what I hope is the answer, but I'm not sure of it.
Second are the Jennings quotes about the Wilfork hit in 2004. NOTHING QUOTED IN THIS ARTICLE WAS SAID BY THE BILLS IN 2007. The reporter quotes what Jennings said back in 2004. You're all acting like, in reaction to the Losman thing, the Bills are out there bringing up 3 year old hits. They are not. The reporter did that.
Third is Losman's thing about not wanting an apology, which everyone suggests is "classless." Bulls*it. I wouldn't want an apology. If the player apologizes to me, it means he's admitting he did it on purpose, and that's the case he can go F himself with his apology. Vince is saying it wasn't intentional, and so no apology should be expected by anyone, including Losman. It's not going to make his leg feel better.
We have a d-lineman who got flagged on a play that put a QB out for a couple of games. It is what is. Could the Bills have just shut their mouths? Of course. But big freaking deal that they didn't. For a crew that wants everyone to just suck it up and shut up, we sure do a fair amount of whining around here ourselves.
