Losing McGinest's ability means what?

Beisel Still Scares me

I am still very much not a Beisel fan. Granted the writers say he's bigger and stronger this year than last year. But getting bigger doesn't change the heart or the fire that burns in a player. (Or lack thereof in Beisel's case.)
However the fact remains. Bruschi is best on as weakside LB for the Pats. No LB that I can ever remember makes as many big plays like Bruschi does from that spot. The thought of Bruschi in the strongside role is kind of scary. At 33 years old, how long til he breaks down from the pounding. At 6'1 or maybe 2, Bruschi will be going against guards that are 3 plus inches taller than him and 60 plus pounds heavier than him. That's a tremendoes amount to ask from him.

Ideally I'd like to see a Claridge or Alexander claim the strongside role on running downs. Keep Bruschi on the weakside. And then maybe put Beisel in on passing downs. Maybe.

Re: Beisel Still Scares me

I've got my Dan Klecko accordian ready for the beer and polka bandwagon, besides, we still have Troy Brown to cover OLB since we have so many CBs.

As much as I loved having Willie there, I think that some combination of Vrabel, Jarvis and Tully will make that an even more productive spot--or at the very least send more action Colvin's way. I'm looking forward to seeing this defense healthy and clicking--as well as the subtle influences of Dean Pees.

We've had Colvin, Green, Tully and Vrabel for years now. i don't understand how subtracting Willie makes the defense better.

The loss of Willie McGinest simply means that the Pats do not have three

proven linebackers to rotate on the outside. TBC or Mincey has to step

up to fill the void.

The Pats are in even worse shape at inside linebacker. They have

to find a third linebacker to rotate and Beisel is still an unknown quanity.

Larger roles for the younger guys (Green, Tully, etc.) where we haven't seen what they can do yet.

Umm, wouldn't anyone they pick up be an unknown quantity? Sincwe players have off years, wouldn't even known qanitity might turn into an unknown quantity (see Samuel and Wilson last year).

Every time we lose a player, and we have lost players every year since 1960, people act like no one can replace that player, and that the team will be gong downhill from now on.

I think the pats are in better shape LB-wise than almost every other team in the league.

Everybody can be replaced. But the replacement can either better, worst or
the same in terms of production.
What happend when Bruschi was replaced in first half of last year?
Duh? There was a problem with the replacement .... no?

McGinest is a loss and yet to be determined whether his replacement will be as good
or better .. if he isn't then one of the most important units of PATs D takes
a hit. How can you argue that?
Then there is Beisel ......
(those are sure good looking rose colored glasses you got there, spacecrime )
