Just saw a headline, will post link when I can.

Probably the greatest linemen ever to block for Brady. Glad he got a Pro Bowl nod this year to go on top.

A real class act and great player.

A true monster on the line, Wish he could have gotten a ring with the patriots. In the end he got almost everything he wanted, not a bad career.

Hope he lives a long happy life.

Is he done? Can't the Pats kick the tires on him? He was a very good pulling guard, the running game suffered since he left.

A beast and a class act. Wish he could have stuck around for a ring with us.

Congrats to Mankins on a fine career, hope he enjoys long, happy retirement.

That being said, when I opened my phone and saw The Score app icon, which means there's Patriots news, I was hoping for something better than this.

Class act. Always is and will be a huge fan

10 year starting left guard with the 32nd pick. Was ticked when we traded him.

Red Jacket Patriot HOFer. Period.
One has to wonder if he could get a gold jacket someday too. Was probably the NFL's best guard for a good 4-5 years.

He was an absolute beast for us and set the tone for the entire offense. He's a hall of famer IMO.... an elite, blue collar player that was tough as nails (playing thru the playoffs and SB on a torn acl!)

Hope he plans to retire a Patriot and gets a red jacket.. he earned it

I don't love him as much as other Patriots legends because of the way he held out, as well as the fact that he seemed to play worse in big games (we never won a Super Bowl with him). But I also realize my feelings as a fan are mostly irrational and he was definitely justified in holding out because he got screwed over by the CBA technicality (>4 year vet as an RFA), and, of course, much of his poor play in the late season is due to playing through unthinkable injuries. So overall, I have to force myself to acknowledge his impact was just as much as any other perennial Pro Bowl blocker for an offensive powerhouse for an entire decade.

I think it will be a stretch for Mankins to make the hall. For whatever reason, the voters have set the bar pretty high for the guard position.

If you compare his accomplishments to to other inductees, he doesn't quite measure up.

Mankins:
Will Shields:
John Hannah:
Larry Allen (played two seasons at Guard):

A class act? In '10 he publicly called kraft and BB liers while holding the team up over a new contract ala Dion Branch. i wouldn't call that a class act.

Are those the only modern day guards in the Hall or?

Yeah, he arrived in NE a year too late and sent out a year too early, or that chart looks a lot different.

Mad respect though, always loved his nastiness. And if the Hall does open up to more OL then he might have an outside shot. As a percentage they're all inducted at lower rates not just at G despite that every year you'll hear many HOF players at other positions say the game is won in the trenches. Tackle is just a sexier position I guess.

The only other Patriots o-lineman in Patriots' history that deserves to be even mentioned in the same breath as Hog Hannah. Not in Hannah's stratosphere, but about as close as you can get.

Definitely deserves HOF consideration. Will be a first ballot Patriots HOFer.

I don't fault him for SB 46. The man was playing with a torn ACL !

As for SB 42, yeah can't say that Logan acquitted himself very well there.
