Figured I'd start a thread about the linebacker options that might be available out there in free agency for the Pats. I don't see any draft options out there that would be capable of coming in and starting and contributing at a high level for the Pats -- which leaves free agency to fill the team's most serious need. Who is available, who is good, and who would best fit the Pat's system?

I think the general consensus in terms of FA LB's goes a little something like this:

Adalius Thomas - wet dream

London Fletcher - a strong possibility

Lance Briggs - unlikely due to recent anti-3-4 comments

I want Briggs or Adalius Thomas, but I think we'll take London Fletcher.
He's a very good LB.

Also, Jarrett Johnson - ILB/OLB/DE for the Ravens. Very Versatile and reminds many people of our very own Mike Vrabel. Said to be very smart and doesn't make many mistakes. Filled in admirably for Ray Lewis when Lewis was out.

Carlos Polk - OLB - Filled in well for Merriman when Merriman missed time.

People can forget about Briggs. He's going to get Franchised by the Bears.

Thomas might be too expensive, though I agree, I'd like to see him here because of his versatility. Is very good in pass coverage from either the ILB or OLB spot. Good at pass rushing from the OLB spot. Is said to have lined up at every defensive position during his time with the Ravens.

There are still three ways to acquire players: draft, sign a FA, or trade. There are lots of good LBs that are available for probably second day pick. Peek, Bubin in Houston; Nap Harris in Minny and Donnie Edwards with SD,. just to name a few who are ones in which I might be interested.

Others include Michell in KC, and a Steeler LB if Tomlinson and his DC go Tampa 2...

Napolean Harris is a UFA. As is Antwan Peek.
Rumors persist that Edwards is going to be released, but those rumors were there last year as well.

you don't want carlos polk, he's not that good of a LB, he's more of a person for depth/emergency fill-in special teamer, seeing as NE does get alot out of less talented guys though, maybe you could turn polk into a better player than he is.

edwards won't be released because he's a UFA

he'll be signed somewhere, he wants top ilb money which is crazy

i don't know where you guys are getting your info from but he's an unrestricted free agent

Tomlinson isnt a coach.

If he's had experience in the 3-4 (Peek, Bubin, Edwards, Polk) we should consider signing or trading for him.

Didn't I read that Ted Johnson was itching to come back when Junior Seau was hurt? Maybe they can re-sign him!

What about Cato June and Rob Morris? Aren't they going to be FAs in March? June is small, but Morris is about the right size for NE, and he has played both inside and out, and will be cheaper than June.

I'll take an order of Adalius Thomas, with a side order of london fletcher pls.
