Lewis Sanders - Is there room on this team for him?

That's true, and FWIW--I think his versatility and experience make the 4th S position his to lose, but you have to consider the fact that he was starting due to the unusual rash of injuries at the position. He normally wouldn't have been. But I like him here, and it'll be interesting to see if we upgrade at the position enough for him to be ousted or not. I kind of hope he stays, but if the staff thinks we've upgraded, even better.

Uh, he is NOT a Patriot. Why are we talking about a former player NO LONGER with the team???

With Bodden and Springs signed I would think its unlikely Lewis will return as the CB position seems pretty tight with at least one rookie likely to be drafted at corner in 2 weeks.

I would think Lewis could very well still be available should Springs,Hobbs or Bodden get injured early in camp but I think he is done as a Pat.

We have no need for more depth and/or competition at CB right now. I don't think we will draft a CB at all this year unless Jenkins miraculously falls to 23 or another player like Davis or Sean Smith is somehow sitting there in the later rounds and is too good value to pass up.

I'm hoping Lewis Sanders remains a Patriot. You can't beat his versatility and experience and he played well whenever called upon last season.

I, like everyone else on this thread assumed we still held his rights. Kevin Pompey, his agent, claimed a few wks ago that they were still waiting to hear about his future with the team.

My comments were regarding that I'd want him to stay, as opposed to leaving. I know he's been versatile in both secondary positions, and if I remember correctly, he's pretty big and tall for one of our corners.

Just out of curiosity, why did you single out my specific post, instead of just replying to the original poster, or any other posts of the 3-4 page thread? You're on me like flies on sh!t lately Kinda reminding me of my wife

I'm not sure I follow the logic. He started a bunch of games and he played well and we won most of the games, but he is going to be cut because the only reason he started was due to injuries?

No, I'm not saying he's going to be cut at all. I think I said the position (4th safety, don't see him as a CB now w/ the signings) was his to lose. I was saying that he normally wouldn't have been starting, except for the injuries that we had taken

EDIT: Sorry Spacecrime, that's totally my fault--didn't see his response was for Wilhite, I was still talking about Lew Sanders, I see your confusion now, I must've been scanning too quickly

Meaning that I like his versatility for depth

FWIW--he hasn't even signed, and there's probably a good chance of him not even being on the team

I would still like him to be however, don't know if he'll end up or not
