Let's see how the Jets deal with success

A couple of things:

1.) We have to admit there are at least a few positives for the Jets. I think there will be some free agents who will want to play for Ryan. Not that they will be the right type of free agents. He will attract a lot of Adalius Thomas types.

2.) We have already seen how drafting late can affect them. Although it is early, their 2010 draft was an unmittigated disaster. Other than Kyle Wilson, most of the picks rarely if ever saw the field or even the active roster. And Wilson is falling so far on the CB depth chart that he will be behind the waterboy soon. From Profootball Weekly:

Seriously, how do you **** up that bad on a first round draft pick? You think your team is near perfect except you need another CB to man up against competent receivers and you draft a CB who can't play man? Great job Jest.

That's a big "no ****!"

That is one reason I'm not too upset about the loss, because we have a lot of players who haven't really experienced the playoffs, and a rookie OC who choked in his first playoff game.

But that is the decision we made.. we made the conscious choice to do things for the long run, not the short term. So we paid for it in the short term, but in the long term it will be better.

Jets went all in for the short term.

It seems to reflect both franchises for draft strategy as well. The Jets would rather put all their eggs in one basket and trade up, while the Pats would rather trade down for quantity and value.

Just like this: the Jets would rather have one season where their odds of winning the Super Bowl is 50%, even if the rest of their seasons produce a 5% chance. The Patriots would rather have a 20% chance to win the Super Bowl every year.
