Let's Discuss Josh's Game Planning

I agree that Josh did a great job in Game 3. I would have liked to see this dumbed down offense in Game 2. As you can see from the OP, I certainly believe that Josh is doing a great job with what he has been dealt...

Just to point out a couple of things:

  1. Game 2 was on the short week of preparation and had no on-field practices, so retooling the offense would have been very difficult with the rookies. Game 3, on the other hand, had the long week.
  2. The Jets and Bills were playing primarily man defense, and were able to knock Thompkins and Dobson off their routes more effectively. The Bucs played a lot more zone coverage, which allowed the rookies better opportunities to run their routes unmolested.

I didn't notice Revis 'til I reminded myself in the second half he was playing. But to his credit, Brady was throwing away from his side of the field pretty much the whole game.

I didn't notice Goldson at all.

Yup.

I suppose that it difficult to change the game plan significantly with no practice.

So, the game plan for Game 3 included a much different approach. The rookies are now being brought along much more slowly. There was no hurry up. The patterns did not emphasize the rookies reading defenses, changing their patterns, and then changing again depending on whether Brady was in trouble.

For people like me who have no idea how to tell, can you explain in detail how I could see this from just watching the game. thanks!

He's had a big say in personnel going back to Maroney 1st round in 2006. Had a big say in Denver and St Louis for personnel.

The past two years are his guys:

Greg Salas
Tim Tebow
Brandon Lloyd
Danny Amendola
Michael Hoomanawanui
Kenbrell Thompson
Aaron Dobson
Josh Boyce
Zach Sudfeld

You know this how??

The facts are that McDaniels has had limited resources up to this point, our screen game was absent until last week, so the D could focus on the run and worry less about that aspect.

Our TE game is virtually nonexistent...

Amendola went down and as much as everyone loves Edelman, they do not equate...

3 rookies, nothing to say about them that has not been said...

Considering all the negative forces on this team, we have done ok, lets see what happens when we have a full compliment of offensive weapons..
