Teams like to use all of preseason to evaluate what they have, it isnt til now that they decide what to keep and what they can let go.
they have some time to play catch up and will probably be used sparingly at first.

Kind of an odd pick-up, but I guess they bring him in and see what he looks like. If they don't like what they see, they cut him and pick up one of their previous cast-offs who has gone unclaimed.
