Lazar: Patriots Lockerroom Teetering on a Mutiny

Clearly I am referring to people who immediately dismiss any story that they don’t like.
It’s what politics has done to our culture.
If you like the story it’s true, if you don’t like it’s a lie. End of story, no thought, no examination, no verification. And even worse it’s now becoming if you don’t like the source you disagree before you even read it.
Or agree with it because it suits them.....Works both ways

Team sport but it does seem more probable than not that the guys
wish Slowcoby was on the bench ... we are dead last in the league passing and receiving.
Mutiny seems to be latent or hyperbole there ... but hopefully Kraft's sphincter puckered a bit.

Let's not give up on Mayo just yet. This is his first crisis and how he handles it can be more important than how we got here.

Overcome this and draw the team back in and show everyone who you are and what you are about.

That said I miss Bill.

Frustration as mutiny. Sounds like a slow dance by Oasis

I think the part that's notable here is that the Patriots media team rushed to immediately pull the podcast offline, then edited it and reuploaded it later with this section cut out.

If it was ********, why would they do that?

He OBSERVED it himself. Godchaux, Peopers, Polk, Douglas have literally commented about the things he said and verified them.

What do you have to contradict it? He said “offense is blaming offense” “defense is blaming defense” he cited the on the field antics of the wide receivers. He literally said I WAS IN THE LOCKER ROOM

Why would he make it up? Has Lazar ever been that kind of reporter? He is a team employee.
I don't know why anyone would think it's invalid Mayo is blaming the Players.

That's their job. Good or bad, right or wrong. The cover up is usually worse than the occurrence.

You do know what the difference is between a report and an opinion, right?
Report: Angry locker room, finger pointing galore
Opinion: Root causes and possible consequences (such as the use of the word "mutiny")

I mean... if he had said something offensive, maybe. But I don't see how covering up his reporting is their job.

For what it's worth I heard Lazar's retraction. He didn't simply take it back, he took back one word (mutiny), clarified what he meant, and added context to his original statement. I've heard countless reporters backtrack honest but unflattering reports out of pressure, but this didn't seem to be the case. He said he witnessed plenty of frustration, but went on to say that he never should have used the word mutiny. He was in a heated argument on a podcast when he said it.

I believe that Lazar got some grief for what he said, but as a long time follower of Lazar I believe his "retraction " was honest.

Lazar walked back his comments.

I agree, adversity is opportunity. Mayo has the opportunity to turn this into a culture building event.
I just have not seen anything yet from Mayo that tells me he can be that guy.
So far he seems way too concerned about what people think about him than a guy with a standard, a plan, and an unwavering approach

I don't think they cut it because it was ********. I think they cut it because it was hyperbolic and could enflame the situation. That said, because this is the Patriots own media entity, it does create the question of whose decision it was to edit it out.

Word choice.

He could have been pressured to walk back his comments, but he did a total walk back. He said there is no mutiny. He said he got carried away and it was his opinion that if things don't change, players could revolt. It was a total reversal. Whether or not Patriots brass forced him to do it is up for everyone to debate.

Haven't seen it yet as a coach but as a player he did.

It sounded to me like he meant everything he said but someone objected to word mutiny so he was told to make that statement.
The word isn’t what’s troubling, if he said they aren’t buying in instead of they are on the verge of mutiny, it would really mean the and thing.
The issue isn't the quote it’s the actions and atmosphere that led to it.
I think it’s safe to save the locker room is not in good shape, whatever words you choose to describe that.

He did not do a total walk back, he stood by every reason he gave for that conclusion and walked back the word he used.
He did not retract any of the issues or reasons he gave to reach that conclusion.

Haven't seen it yet as a coach but as a player he did.

You know the players love the guy. You can tell by them giving him a Gatorade bath after his first win. Granted loving your coach doesn't necessarily make him a good coach or that he won't lose the players, but I don't think it is like other coaches from the Belichick coaching tree who went elsewhere and alienated the locker room right away and lost the team within a matter of months.
