Which player(s) who were part of last season 53 man roster do you expect not to make this years final roster?

My personal candidates are (see below).

Nate Ebner
Mike Rivera
Niko Koutouvides
Kamar Aiken
Daniel Fells

I would appreciate it if you post to disagree with one of the 5 players I've selected that you offer someone who was on the roster last season that you'd view as more likely to be cut in their place.

I would add Dowling especially if he can't regain fitness (unlikely to do so) and Cunnignham.

Right now I would agree and say that all five are unlikely (i.e., less than 50% chance) to make the roster.

From the five on that list I would say that the most likely to stick is Niko Koutouvides because of his special teams play, rather than Daniel Fells making the roster with the open slot(s) at TE.

As far as someone else? Well, if Kamar Aiken counts (played in one game, vs Jacksonville), then I will nominate Ras-I Dowling (played in one game and dressed for two; game day inactive for five other games).

I had hopes for Dowling entering training camp, but as of right now it sure sounds as if I was being overly optimistic.

On the subject of Koutouvides; do you have any thoughts on Beauharnias based on what you've seen at camp? I don't really hear much about him or Ryan, not sure if that's a good or bad thing though.

I'd be less surprised by Brandon Bolden or Steve Gregory getting cut (cutting Gregory would save about $800,000 in cap space) than I would by Nate Ebner getting cut: he was second in ST snaps (ahead of Slater) and second in ST tackles last year (just behind Slater).

I agree except I would add Aqib Talib

Nate Ebner Good bet to stay.
Mike Rivera Seems gone. Tough year for LBs.
Niko Koutouvides Ditto.
Kamar Aiken We have 6 WRs looking good (counting STer Slater), and want to load upon TEs. No room.
Daniel Fells With Ballard limping his chances of staying go up.

We're heading for a bloodbath at DE, if you want more bodies. Also, Cole and Dowling won't both make it, unless Dennard goes to jail or something.

Mesko's in a battle for his job.

The one player who I'd disagree with on some level would likely be Daniel Fells. He didn't have the ability to take part in too much prior to the season last summer and was injured enough to where his year was pretty much wasted in 2012.

Even so, there were some whose opinions I trust who claimed his blocking to still be superior to Hooman in the last 5-6 games of the season, so we know that he has the talent. If Belichick feels that he is in better health and has been acclimated to the offense even more this year then he may certainly make the roster; especially with the cutting of Hernandez and the injury to Gronk.

I'm not claiming that he'll definitely make it--but I think that he may have a better chance than some are giving credit for too. We'll have to see how it shakes out though.

Talib is the Patriots best corner...lay off the catnip...

Logan Ryan and Duron Harmon have both been seeing extensive reps on special teams, with Logan Ryan seeing time as the second gunner on kickoff coverage.

If Ryan can prove himself there, it may make a guy like Cole potentially more expendable--although it's terribly early to really make any kind of prediction right now in my opinion, but one would think that Belichick may be hoping for Ryan to show enough there to save an additional roster spot for someone else since we all know that Ryan will be making it regardless anyway.

Just my opinion. However, if he makes the final 53 than I'll support him as a Patriot.

Before I'd cut either Ebner or Fells I'd cut Marquis Cole and Jeff Tarpinian.

Why?

The startable LBs are now 6 deep, Mayo, Hightower, Spikes, Collins, Fletcher and A. Wilson. The ST only LBs, who made the roster when there was only the Big 3, will have to yield to them. Plus Fletcher and Collins are playing ST too.

Marquis Cole is an abomination as a CB. He is older and he made the club because he is the #2 gunner on ST, and there were not enough genuine CBs, last season. But Logan Ryan has been ably playing the #2 gunner slot on ST; and he is a legitimate and genuine CB even if he is a raw rookie. So he has much more upside.

Ebner was the second best ST on the club last season, just barely behind Slater. Plus he has more upside. Tavon and Duran are good ST players too, so we are not bereft on ST, with dumping several ST-only guys, and replacing them with two way potential players.

It's always the hope that many of our newer rookies and 2nd year players are able to not only play a "real" position but also cover important special teams roles. That opens up spots that would have otherwise been dedicated to more STOP spots, so it's great to see it potentially paying off; especially with Logan Ryan being able to handle the gunner #2 spot thus far.

Based on opinion of what I prefer. That is all.

He was a free agent this offseason, and one of the top rated CB's to boot, so if they hadn't planned on keeping him they simply wouldn't have resigned him to another contract--even if it's only through this particular season.

He's definitely talented in terms of allowing the defense to play more man to man schemes and open up the pass rush a bit. On top of that he's experienced and has reportedly been providing leadership to some of the other secondary players so far in camp.

He seemed to have some attitude issues prior to coming here, but hopefully the organization was able to get through to him on some level and fix some of that. In all honesty, if you're looking at it purely from a character standpoint it may really be a good thing that he came to N.England because it seems to have placed him on a better path thus far. His attitude definitely seems to have changed somewhat for sure.

I agree except I would add Vince Wilfork

Just my opinion. However, if he makes the final 53 than(sic) I'll support him as a Patriot.:amen:
