Re: OT:Coles not a big favre fan ?

"We're in a quarterback-driven offense where he pretty much has control of everything, where before the offense was pretty much driven through me. ... I just kind of become a role player instead of a guy that teams had to prepare for."

Very unPatriotic of him...
...but he is spot on here.

"Of course he's the big name, he's the Hall of Famer, he's going to get the majority of the credit but most of the guys who deserve the credit don't really get it."

Thing is, it works the same with blame. Just ask Matty.

Re: OT:Coles not a big favre fan ?

This isn't new. Coles was very loyal to Chad Pennington because Chad re-did his contract to bring Coles back a few years ago. That said, Coles should pipe down. The team is much better, and as the article said, he has his 2nd highest career TD total so it's not like he's being ignored. Plus you have younger improving guys like Cotchery, Washington, and Keller.

He did seemingly pipe down for quite awhile - so this is somewhat new - though all of those statements can easilly be taken out of context and need not be viewed as a slight directed towards Favre (even though I believe it probably was)

The Jugs machine comment was obviously a reference at Favre's big arm. But I agree. I meant it wasn't new in the sense that there were reports from the summer that Coles wasn't a fan of the way they treated Chad.

He's like mad about last week, nervous about this week, and hoping to get mailed to a new team for '09. Fishies?

I could definitely see him going to the fishies.

Re: OT:Coles not a big favre fan ?

IMO Kris Jenkins should get all the accolades for the Jets season - He has totally turned around their defense against the run and are now a top rock solid unit all around as it usually is when you have a dominating front 3 - Jenkins is more responsible for the Jets success than Favre IMO

Now back to your regularly scheduled thread ....

Re: OT:Coles not a big favre fan ?

Coles and Favre have never really seemed to gel together. On the field, their production together is eratic and off it seems non-existent from reports. Favre has never been a guy to mend bridges. Coles has been upset since they unceramoniously dumped Pennington.

I agree with Coles though. I do think Favre is getting too much credit for the Jets' success. I have seen articles that state that Favre was the best offseason acquistion in the league. Funny, I don't even believe he was the best offseason acquistion on the Jets (Kris Jenkins is). I think Favre is having a decent, but not great year. He is still wildly inconsistent and makes too many costly mistakes. At his age, I wonder if he starts to hit a wall around this time especially in the cold.

Re: OT:Coles not a big favre fan ?

The bottom line in that article is THIS:

"Poor, forgotten man Coles has 55 receptions for 615 yards and six touchdowns this season. The TD total is the second-highest of his nine-year career."

BTW, here doesn't think it is coincidence that GB is on the outside looking in, and the Jets are on the verge of making the playoffs??

Like Favre or not, he IS a difference maker.
