Kudos to Wilfork and Watson for handling their contract years

I don't think I've ever seen two guys handle contract years better than Vince Wilfork and Ben Watson. Both guys are going out and performing despite the fact that their contracts are up after the season and they haven't signed extensions yet. Neither guy held out or let it become a distraction.

Neither is getting tattoos with messages to remind them about their next deal, nor are they talking about the needs of their families.

You don't hear either whine about how the big bad Patriots held guns to their heads and forced them to sign for 6 years.

No whining. It is damned refreshing. They are putting the team's needs above their own situations.

I realize they are both taking risks, because if they are hurt it could cost them money. However, both carry themselves like pros and do their job. I hope both guys re-sign with the Pats, but if not I hope they both receive good deals elsewhere. They deserve it.

Re: Kudo's to Wilfork and Watson for handling their contract years

Both know they are getting paid. Watson has become as soon as graham in blocking and is faster and better. With the movement of coachs i see him in atlanta or broncos.

Vince is getting some mondo dough too and both are waiting to cashin.

I actually think both re-sign with the Pats. I think Brady will have a lot to do with the Watson situation. He has made clutch catches and Brady has gone his way in some really big spots.

I think Wilfork and Belichick are closer than most people realize. Doesn't mean that Wilfork gets whatever he wants, but I think they both know that their future success is maximized by staying together. Once the labor situation clears up a little (one way or the other), I think Wilfork gets a market deal to stay.

The loser in this would seem to be Mankins. He obviously wants to cash in and should have interest, so I'm guessing he will be moving on.

Unless they extend the CBA, Mankins will be a restricted player. Either way, I think they keep him.

I should have included him. Another guy who can make a case for a big payday but is not raising a stink or holding out (like some others have).

So do I. I think Neal is gone though.
