Kraft regrets giving Belichick so much power without “checks and balances” in place.

wait wut?
I'm not going to get into politics but he was all over the nightly news networks talking about how he was working to end tenure because faculty were part of the campus protests. He is pretty powerful because he donates a lot of money to a couple universities.

Apparently Kraft is full of ****.

Checks and balances is just BS line. It sounds good but it was never needed. One 4-13 season and not having it suddenly becomes cause to fire BB.
Checks and balances are always needed in large organizations. Don't understand the issue people have with this particular sounbite.

Kraft gave Bill the credit saying he gave him full control because he earned it. In hindsight, when it went south, it just kept going as there was no check to slow things down.

I am not going to rehash all the crap that went down since 2018 or so but it was a massive list. Had there been less absolute control, maybe some of those things don't happen.

Kraft and a microphone have always been a bad combination, it's just worse now that he thinks of himself as a Hall of Fame owner just waiting for that ticket to be punched. Everything and I do mean everything Kraft does these days is with that objective in mind.

They had a great system of "checks and balances" when he was the only person in NFL history to think Bobby Grier was the best choice to run his franchise, and Grier allowed players to stampede up the stairway to undercut Pete Carroll. We saw two crap drafts in a row and big contracts handed to Bledsoe's buddies Todd Rucci and Max Lane. Pete went on to win 2 national championships and 1 Super Bowl (almost 2 as we well know) and Bobby went on to .... jack ****.
3Pete right? or did one get discredited because of Bush?

It was always a dumb ass argument. For 20 years, all we heard was it was all Bill and then the minute things turned south, it was somehow not him that was at the wheel.
Except for the fact that the owner came out after 2019 and publicly said there would be changes to the way drafting was conducted.

Interesting take since the sound bite literally says checks and balances weren't in place during the most successful time of our franchise.

And ironically it was Bobby's son who went along with the Miami owner's plan to undermine the HC behind the coach's back. I blame the owner more than the GM, of course, because the GM is just trying to do his job.

That was not the reason for success.

I'm not getting into some Brady v Bill debate you can f off with that. Regardless of where you stand in that debate there were no checks and balances Kraft literally said that now he's trying to scapegoat Bill with some BS about that.

I guess there are checks and balances now and things are getting worse and we are seeing what real dysfunction looks like.

Then don't say stupid **** like unchecked power is good.

Abysmal BB is still better than what we have right now.

Hell, my high school coach is better than what we have now.

Anyone who thinks that we are better off with Mayo/Covington and AVP versus BB and BOB is obviously a BB hater. No doubt it was time for BB to go and Maye is the future, but to try to continue to bury BB with documentaries and the Breakfast Club is disgusting.

I have continually asked a simple question on this board and have never had an answer. What type of billionaire drives his Bentley to a FL strip mall for "massages"?

Look in the mirror Bob, you were supposed to be the checks and balances.

Instead......you've been guzzlin Viagra and humping anything that moved while hoarding your shekels.

yeah, we only saw the "best lineman" we signed quit...

we only saw a head coach get passed over in the hiring cycle until we get stuck with the guys no one else wanted...

we saw every halfway decent free agent use our team to get more money elsewhere

still waiting on the "burning some cash" to happen... That there are tight controls on the budget of this team is a strong indicator that maybe just maybe the krafts were exercising a lot more control over the team that we previously thought.

we only saw a coach in week 5 say we are sticking with the plan, only to do an about face when it gets leaked on a tuesday that we are indeed changing quarterbacks...

and as for coaches bringing their own staff on board, how many guys bring in their own staffs? BoB brought in one of his guys to work with... why would he be able to dictate the terms of the entire offensive staff? and if he didnt agree, he could have stayed in alabama

and as for Mac - add after he was benched - so, yeah, got zero problems with him being doghoused... it was deserved...

and even if every single accusation leveled at Bill is true to the letter - He is still better than what we have now.
I will look for it and post it but it was Pete Carrol who made me understand how Kraft operates. He was talking about his first conversation with Kraft when he got here and was thinking about feeding the players healthy meals as part of his new idea about healthy nutrition etc and Kraft told him they can't feed the players that way here and offerred to continue with some unhealthy choices. It was at that point that Pete knew he was in for a rough go.

Bob Kraft never met a microphone he didn’t like.

People say it was amazing that Belichick and Brady were able to keep their egos in check for 2 decades. It’s becoming very clear that it was amazing Bob Kraft was able to keep his ego in check for 20 years as well. The rest of this guy’s tenure reeks of another meddlesome Jerry Jones. Thanks for keeping the team here Bob, although that was very shady to get Hartford involved.

Kraft wanted to serve bologna sandwiches and chips

There's a lot more to the story.

Again, Im going to be as delicate and short as possible on this, but the Madame had a very close connection to a Chinese national in West Palm Beach who is connected to a lot of very powerful and rich people. This was not a random massage parlor. The person is STILL always seen at a certain country club on the beach.

Kraft has turned into crazy old man rambling who doesn't know when to shut up.

Kraft likes to see himself as 1/3rd equal of the dynasty but nowhere else does that happen, all you hear out of KC is Mahomes/Reid then it would be Kelce, Spagnolo, Chris Jones as smaller pieces ect you never see Clark Hunt out pining for his 1/3rd share of credit.

I rarely agree with anything ScottishPartiot posts. But he is spot on with this. I hate to admit it, but you are right.

RK obviously insisted that the coaching staff start Drake Maye in week 6, and then felt so good about himself after week 6 that he went on the Breakfast Club to imply that everything is OK after watching D Maye. The previous problems were because RK made a mistake with the last mamangement team. RK is falling on his sword. It is so obvious and transparent. RK can not stop himself from saying it. Why? @ScottishPatriots is right - because RK has a compulsion to interject himself into the 6 SBs and claim he was part of that success.

If you ever wondered why voters do not caste their ballot for RK to enter the NFL HOF, you do not have to wonder any more.
