KG is no Larry Bird

Can the "drunk" references, period. There are people on this board in recovery and its insulting and disrespectful to them.... not cool at all.

This entire thread is ******ed simply for the fact no one here, or among mainstream America, tries to say Garnett is better than Bird. It's not even an argument, to say that Bird is one of the top 5 greats. This thread is just old fanboys, in response to nothing, coming out of the blue to suck on Bird's nutsack one more time, and trash KG for no reason whatsoever. They're not even similar players, so why try to make this idiotic comparison just because you're peeved that Cedric Maxwell said something stupid awhile ago. Who cares what Cedric Maxwell thinks.

From the Herald's Post season report card (yeah, I wish it wasn't in the Herald):

Kevin Garnett

STAT LINE: 20.4 ppg, 10.5 rpg, .495 FG)

Grade: B-plus

His energy alone was enough to light up the Eastern Seaboard. The only problem -- and it’s more a problem for those who want Garnett to be something he isn’t -- was a frequent reluctance to take his game inside. Almost like clockwork, a Celtics dip would be accompanied by grumbles that Garnett doesn’t take over the game in the offensive end enough. But once and for all, that’s not his game. What is the point, however, was illustrated in the way he ultimately sent a cowed Pau Gasol back to LA. The Celtics won the Finals by playing the best defense in the league. That doesn’t happen without Garnett.

They might as well say "Almost like clockwork, a Celtics dip would be accompanied by grumbles that Garnett doesn't take over a game like Larry Bird. But once and for all, that’s not his game."

No that's not his game - but they are 100% right about his defense and should have added that he inspired nearly all the role players on this team to take their game to the next level this season.

And you have to admit, for a guy who everyone recognizes puts defense ahead of offense, averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds isn't all that bad.

Now none of us are going to dis the Defense that Bird played either - but what this team needed in this series wasn't Bird's offense - it was Garnett's defense - and that's just what we got!
