Just Imagine if Gronk... Grassy Knoll Super Merge

...had broken White's neck. Just ponder the magnitude of that for a few seconds.

How he only got one game for that attack would be baffling, aside from knowing that Goodell is an all-over-the-map incompetent buffoon when it comes to handing out punishments.

And to deny that there is a very real possibility that could've happened by a 6'7" 270 pound man driving his bodyweight into the back of an unsuspecting person's head and neck is just foolish. Remember the Todd Bertuzzi/Steve Moore incident in the NHL. Moore got 3 fractured verterbrae from a punch from behind that didn't even look that dangerous. The difference - Moore was up skating and Bertuzzi was 6'3" 229. White was laying prone and Gronk is 6'7" 270.

I don't think you all realize how lucky Gronk is - not that he only got one game, but that he's not headed for a prison cell. Should've been put down for the year...or at least until after the matchup against the Steelers in two weeks. That would have sufficed.

Just imagine if your Bills won a super bowl...see I can make up fantasy too.

No trolling! And 6 years later, Ben is still not that far behind Brady. He's close on yards and TD's. Still has a chance to challenge SB titles but Goodell is doing all he can to prevent that from happening.
You’re either a troll or a moron (or both).

On what planet is 160 touchdowns “not that far behind”??? At his season rate, Roethlisberger would have to play another 7 years to catch up - and that ignores the fact that not only is Brady still playing, but the statistical distance between the 2 QBs is *growing*.

He didn't break his neck so I don't care about your stupid hypothetical posturing.
I rated this disagree and I'm going to tell you why. Because this is the reason I was originally willing to accept a 3 game suspension despite being a huge Gronk fan.

The reasoning is simple. Even if the injury didn't happen as such, he was still risking that consequence by what he did to White. This scenario is a legitimate thing that not only could have happened, but is an expectable consequence of what Gronk did. So unlike your standard what-if hypothetical, there's some merit to discussing this. it didn't happen, but that wasn't for lack of effort on Rob Gronkowski's part.

I mean it's great that he's sorry and all, but he did still come down almost full force with his forearm on White's back while he was prone and vulnerable, and a lot of that contact was then deflected upwards into the helmet, which was then forcefully slammed to the ground. Worse injuries have happened from more benign forms of contact, that's for sure.

I almost broke my neck from laughing at this ridiculous take. You're suspended for eleventy games.

Absolutely not. In the NHL, that would be a match penalty for deliberate intent to injure and lengthy suspension. The point is, the game against Pittsburgh is gonna determine homefield for the playoffs, and Goodell is basically handing it to the Pats by NOT suspending Gronk for as long as he should. Especially with Shazier out now.
Nice hot take there dipshit

Ben's still just not quite that far behind Brady tho....

Just like I am still not quite that far behind Dorsett in the 40

1. You are a textbook troll. A Steelers fan on a Pats forum
2. 6 years later Ben is still "not that far behind Brady?" This is after 2 more rings and all the cazy stats and the MVP. Wow I have seen homers before but this is legendary.
3. You think Goddell is "doing all he can" to keep Ben Rapistburger from winning Superbowls. And Ben would have more if not for Rodger.

This is good stuff.

That officiating in the Pittsburgh-Seattle Super Bowl was right down the middle. Absolutely no calls went the Steelers way. In more recent times, I remember Goodell suspending Roethlisberger for 4 games and taking away the Steelers first round pick when the team was caught using illegally deflated footballs just last year. The commissioner has made it a point to hinder the Steelers at every opportunity. It's obvious to anyone who can see and 90% of blind people.

Ive seen a lot of hits that could have resulted in a broken neck. Some were cheap and some were just part of the game, if your so insulted don't watch. BTW gronks elbow hit the white on the back of his head, not on the back of his neck.

I vote both. We need a poll.

What if they just renamed the city to Pats-burgh.

I mean stat-wise specific to this season.

Brady: 3,6362 Yards 26 TD's .833 Win pct
Ben: 3,238 Yards 22 TD's .833 Win pct.

As far as long term, Tom had a head start in the league by several seasons. If Ben can get a third ring this year, he may rethink his retirement talk and stick around another few seasons. That's where things will get interesting. Then it's 5-3 in terms of rings. And Ben has AB, Ju-Ju, and possibly Le'veon (the greatest pass-receiving back in NFL history) at his disposal for 3 more years. Not only are 2 more rings in the sights, but some monster stats. We shall see what happens...

But that is not what I have argued. My entire point if you look at all 3 collisions is that Gronks dive on White was the one that was the least likely to severely injure someone as the troll OP was making a huge point about breaking necks and whatnot in his post.

There is no question that the other two hits were things that happen in a football game but that doesnt make them less dangerous or risky.

Have you never seen the Bertuzzi/Moore footage? What Gronk did was exactly the kind of impact and trajectory that can break a man's neck. Especially at his size and strength.
