I think this foot injury is a smoke screen to a point. BB just does not want to put Brady in because the OL is dismal right now and why risk a pre season injury to the franchise QB...JMO

Maybe BB just wanted to play MC for a full half against the best part of
TB's defense. That meant TB would just be standing on sideline. So instead,
let Tom stay back with a feasible injury and give the rumor mill a big bone.
