Nice piece on Jules by Reiss
Julian Edelman on cusp of passing Wes Welker's Patriots playoff record

Incredible career of unlikely champion that quietly made “swiss bank“ Welker redundant and Tommy rejuvenated.

Quote:
With two catches, Edelman will pass Wes Welker’s franchise record for most playoff receptions (69). He’s already passed tight end Rob Gronkowski (52), Deion Branch (56) and Troy Brown (58).
Not bad for a college quarterback turned wide receiver.

If all goes well he can make it to #2 all-time league before midnight Feb 5.

NFL Career Playoff Receptions

New England Patriots receiver Julian Edelman is climbing the all-time career playoff receptions list.

PLAYER YEARS RECEPTIONS
1. Jerry Rice 1985-2004 151
2. Reggie Wayne 2001-14 93
T3, Wes Welker 2004-15 88
T3. Hines Ward 1998-2011 88
5. Michael Irvin 1988-99 87
6. Andre Reed 1985-2000 85
7. Thurman Thomas 1988-2000 76
8. Cliff Branch 1972-85 73
T9, Anquan Boldin 2003-present 70
T9. Fred Biletnikoff 1965-78 70
11. Art Monk 1980-95 69
12. Julian Edelman 2009-present 68
13. Drew Pearson 1973-83 67
T14. Marvin Harrison 1996-2008 65
T14. Tony Nathan 1979-87 65

Possibly he could get to #2 all time this season.

Man, I thought that Marvin Harrison number had to be wrong, but nope. 16 games, 65 catches (on 133 targets!), 2 TDs.

He's like the Peyton Manning of wide receivers.

Harrison doesn't get nearly enough of the blame for those Colt teams. He was soft and had some big turnovers. Deymarius Thomas reminds me of him in that way.

Today he gets into the top 10

Did not know that Wes Welker is 3rd all time. Interesting

26 catches in 3 games - really good but not unheard of - would have him #2 all-time.

3 fumbles on 65 catches in playoffs 5% versus 12 fumbles on 1100 catches in regular season roughly 1%.....

11 catches 110 yd in 3 games vs NE

Indeed. That's why the argument that "Brady didn't play with HOFers except Moss and possibly Gronk" is a little exaggerated
Welker is not a hall of famer

Jules a great climber

It's crazy to think he has that many, but I think it's because we all forget about that 09 WC blowout against Baltimore. An unknown at the time, he was literally our only offense that day.

That game made people for years "why the hell do they not use Edelman?"

Tell me about it. He had two straight years where he was basically nonexistent in this offense. It was mostly due to Welker, but its still curious as to why he never got any playing time at WR back then.
