Mac led the entire NFL in turnovers as a starter, Brissett turns the ball over less than anyone… you don’t understand how football works if you believe your statement above.
This is a Tough one, if Mac played not to lose vs playing to win how many less turnovers would he have had?
I think it’s a combination of mediocre coaching, jag skill players, mediocre o line, and a less than a jag QB.
I knew he 100 percent wasn’t the answer when I saw him in person vs Buff in foxoboro 3 years ago.
Warm ups he was throwing lobs and Hoyer was darting passes in there on the sideline.
I went wait a minute omg to see that weak arm live was sobering.
Then watching Allen warm up I could hear the ball whistle.
That being said the game like Josh Allen was in a video game playing against easy,
He easily sidestepped and broke out of sacks made plays on his feet and had too much arm strength and zip that he made the smallest of windows look easy to hit.
I don’t think I was ever so discouraged by the Patriots cause I knew with Mac we could never compete for a championship and I felt like we were stuck in mediocrity.
Don’t get me wrong the few times Mac made plays in clutch situations I was happy for the kid and even said he’s showing the toughness we want to see at QB.
But I can’t remember which beat writer said it but he said everything Mac does he makes look difficult and everthing Allen does comes easy.
Mac forced turnovers and panicked in situations cause he didn’t have the god given elite talent to be a NFL QB who can make the best of a bad situation hence the play in the Raiders game.
Not allowing him to throw in the strong winds in Buff and not allowing him to attempt a hail Mary against the Raiders did two things.
Confirmed how I believed Bill felt about him and destroyed the little bit of confidence and trust Mac had that he was a Franchise QB for the Pats.
All that to say Brissett is leaps and bounds better than Mac.
Hell I know we would of one more with Hoyer or Stidham than him.
