Judge Berman for Supreme Court of the United States

One of two things is going to happen here, either this thread gets moved to the political forum or it is going to get very very ugly,

well...ugly threads need lovin' too Ivan...

Not happening because CHB once again referred to Judge Berman in his column today as a Brady "fanboy." This, despite the fact that Michael McCann and others who would know have repeatedly stated that Berman's reputation for impartiality and fairness is virtually universal. But, Shaughnessy, the brilliant legal mind and unbiased observer of United States jurisprudence, has determined that Judge Berman's decades of respected performance on the bench mean nothing because he, the hack commonly known as Shank Shaughnessy and Curly Haired Boyfriend, thinks otherwise. What a full-of-himself, lying, disingenuous scumbag. P.S.: And, oh, what's worse, is none of his phony colleagues from the Globe, Herald, Providence Journal, WEEI, 98.5, Worcester Telegram or, anywhere else, have the balls to call him out on it. F###### ball-less cowards.
Interesting, huh? The New York Daily News goes after Manning and the Boston Glob's own CHB is still riding the anti-Brady bandwagon...

FYI Scalia suggested to David Axelrod after Souter left that Obama nominate Kagan as a judge, however he first chose Sotamayer... after Stevens retired he then chose Kagan.
He owed the Hispanic community big time for his election. Sotomayor was a slam dunk as his first nominee: she'd been nominated to the SDNY by GHWB and to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals by WJC. Hispanic. A product of the Catholic School System, Princeton Undergrad, Yale Law...pretty much a no brainer.

Paul Clement, who is the NFL's lead attorney in the brady appeal, would actually be a good pick
He could well be in the mix if the appointment is delayed until after the new President takes office. He's a Republican, so a Republican would have to win the election.

The longer the republicans delay the more influence the religious right will have on their nominee, and the more influence they have on the nominee the less likely they are to win a general election, As politics go this was the worst thing that could have happened to Trump as he was hoping that the debate over their nominee would stay secular and the religious right would be marginalized, now their debate will move from immigration and terrorism, where he was getting a lot of support, to abortion and gay marriage, where he will take a beating, The popular meme from republicans right now is to abandon their constitutional obligations and delay confirmation in the hopes a republican will be chosen, however the longer the matter goes unresolved the less likely there will be a republican in the white house, and if a democrat wins their response to the delay should be to nominate Obama to the position.

yes, i was assuming a Trump or Cruz win next year for that to happen

This should definitely be in the Political Forum, but I wouldn't be holding my breath on either outcome. As John Kasich said at the most recent debate, "I can't believe that we're all standing here handing the election to Hillary Clinton."

I'll reply to a thread in the Political Forum if you want to take it there.

As I just said to another poster, this definitely belongs in a political forum, but I don't think your read is all that far off the mark...

I agree, it should go elsewhere asap. I figured as long as it was here I would give my take on it. I gave up politics years ago because it just makes life uglier but every now and then I feel the need to say my piece and in this instance I think the republicans are making a big mistake but simply cannot help themselves.

I'm basically a political independent. I try to educate myself on the candidates I consider and vote accordingly. I'm FAR LESS sophisticated in this area than many/most of you that post here so I cannot offer any insight that you would probably find cogent.

I CAN, however, offer my insight on what I SEE in a man. In this realm I must affirm that I am quite an established observer and evaluator of WHO a person is given his body language, speech and overall behavior. In my opinion, of all the candidates running for president in this election from either party, there is only ONE man that must NEVER EVER even get a sniff of the Oval Office and that man is Ted Cruz. He is a fraudulent, dangerously obsessed evangelicalist and has displayed a propensity for public slanders whenever challenged. When you read that a man "speaks with Jesus before he makes any decisions" and this man is personally in contact with an invisible deity "God" therefore 100% credible you MUST KNOW at that point that THIS man is a FRAUD. 100%.
