My football fantasy scenario is that Sherman gets cut, then immediately calls BB and offers his services in a CB/FS role in 2018 for $5M guaranteed.

I think Sherman would happily come here cheaper than he would other squads if that's the case. He's competitive and wants to win.

IIRC, last I heard Sherman tore his Achilles, which could be a career-ender.

God please invest heavily in the front seven. And God please don't leave us with just Rowe and Jones for CB2.

brady has been spoiled with weaponry for years, so yes, bb needs to stop surrounding the goat so much with an abundance of weapons.

We’ve already invested a ton of money into Gilmore. The answer will probably be Rowe on the outside, the Jones brothers at Nickel and dime, and a draft choice. If they’re going to invest their money anywhere on the defense for an FA, it’s going to be on the DL.

this is a strange way to spell "give up 40 points a game and hope the offense can win every shoot out."

Rowe isn't ideal, but is serviceable. That's also why I included a draft choice as well. But I don't think they're going to invest heavily in FA assets back there when they already have Gilmore and McCourty. I think they'll instead turn to making the front seven mean again.

I predict Sherman gets cut in Seattle and because of his injury he signs a one year deal here to prove he can bounce back before he tries to land one last bigger deal.
I predict perhaps Talib. If the Bronco's are after Cousins and need $. Cutting him make sense.
There is another low cost alternative. A 6'2" CB named Pierre Desir from the Colts. He started in front of Vontae Davis for 5 games. 7 PD and 1 Int in 5 9 games. Repaired shoulder muscle IRd him.

i highly, highly doubt talib would ever come back here after ruling the roost in denver

i got the impression he could barely keep himself together when he was here

They were willing to go to $8 or $9m for Butler even with Gilmore around. I see no reason why they wouldn't take Norman's contract for $12-13m. On the other hand, why would he be traded?

Norman's contract would actually be $14M for the Pats in 2018, and they simply don't have the cap space to absorb that.

where do people get this stuff? we have a whole contingent of our fanbase that do not get bb’s way of teambuilding. it is like they still don’t get it or understand basic economics

Any source on that 8-9m after Gilmore was signed?

My understanding was that the Butler offer was off the table as soon as he declined it (and the Pats signed Gilmore).

Just asking because it might give an indication how much they would be willing to pay for a CB2.

trusted sources reported “6-8” mil which leads one to believe an average of 7 mil per

Is there speculation he'll be released or something? Otherwise, doesn't he have a massive contract?

Even though Logan Ryan is remembered as a "slot CB", he played the vast majority of his 2015 and 2016 snaps for the Pats n the right boundary. In 2015, he was the Pats 3rd leading tackler, with 4 picks and 14 PDs (Butler had 15). In 2016, he was the Pats leading tckler, with 2 picks and 11 PDs (Butler had 16).

And yet the Pats apparently weren't willing to pay Ryan 3 years/$30M, $12M guaranteed.
