Yeah, I'm sure it sucks for him in the moment, but it's more just a function of the business side of things than anything else. That's not really fair. To take him, Philly would have had to cut someone and would have had to assume his salary, which isn't small for a back-up.
It's also probably part of the reason the Pats went with Karras...1.7 million reasons.

Damn Pissah that is just plain mean...It must be awful to realize you couldn't even be given away
What is not fair?
Its business.
And yet the deal wasn't altered otherwise was it? Neither the Pats nor the Eagles had to add value to the trade after Kline was removed.
Looks like Kline was in there only because the Eagles thought they could flip him for a pick, while the Pats were looking at a cap savings.
The statement by Patswickedpissah:

isn't fair. When you come with a hefty salary vs. your value and they would have had to cut someone else to accommodate you, this statement is rather nasty and not fair.

Exactly.
The only benefit to the Iggles was flipping Kline as the clearly didn't need or want him.
It is clear that as a courtesy to Rosen and to give him time to perform some market analysis, BB held on to him as opposed to cutting him outright. I bet BB told him that they tried to shop him and there was little interest. Why Rosen thought he could do better is baffling
In the end, Pats were gonna save $1.7 no matter what.
At the end of the day, BB gets a 2nd rd pick from last year who as a rookie was up and down but has good physical ability and did OK as a starter his last 5 games of the year for a 4th which could be a 3rd.
I really don't understand how allegedly smart guy like Joe Banner doesn't get that.
A little surprised they don't keep Kline and cut Karras expecting to get him to the PS. I'm not a big fan of "no-one gets claimed", that's not been true with the Patriots, but Karras doesn't seem like the type who would be claimed; low draft pick, doesn't stand out athletically. It's encouraging to have four your guards (Thuney, Mason, Cooper, Karras) who they seem to like enough to do this.
