Patriots Player Departure Josh Gordon Stepping Away?

So people on drink smoke weed and cheat on girlfriends because if demons? I guess colleges are demonic.
Many people do those things as recreation and for fun. Yes addicts can’t stop themselves because of the horror of the addiction.
Not everyone using weed and alcohol is an addict. In generation in your 20s everyone went out drinking every weekend. Today many kids regularly use weed. They aren’t addicts.
As far as cheating that’s a character thing but a demon.

The word is "abstinent" if you are addicted. I agree that people do alcohol and weed separately or together. But if you are addicted to one or the other or both as he is then you are FU ( meaning sick) and need to focus on your issues before you damage yourself and others. You seem to take this lightly, IMO. This is serious and he has demons that drive him to hurt himself and others IMO.

The more interesting question now is if he sorts himself out, Will he be back?

No doubt. White's drop was just as bad (poorly-timed), as was Gordon's. Not all of Edelman's drops have been drive killers. Gordon had a higher drop rate and a lower catch rate that Edelman.

A lot of folks appear to be focusing solely on Edelman's drops as justification for the hot take that he's "playing poorly", while conveniently ignoring the rest of what he's contributed.

I might be guilty of having less patience with Edelman than I should.

What's wrong with being spoiled? We know that this team is on the edge of being mediocre...We want to see as much excellence as we possibly can see, because we know it is going to end soon. So, why can't we be disappointed when the GOAT QB and GOAT TE are looking merely mediocre and the defense looks like it can't stop the run?

This team looks like it could be better and it has played amazing in spurts...but it has been inconsistent and that means the chances of a Superbowl are lower than we'd like...it is okay to be disappointed about that

I see far more than disappointment in this thread. I see fans quitting on the team's chances with two games left in the season.

He will be 28 by the start of next season which I would assume he will miss all of so his best case scenario he is back at 29. I would be surprised if this suspension is just next season and not at least part of the following season. By that point he will be in the ballpark of 30 years old and missed a ton of time. I think his elite speed was already gone this season so another year or two away from the game won’t help get that back. This is also taking into account he doesn’t fail another test while out of the league which is also unlikely. I think we have seen the last of Josh Gordon in the NFL.

A lot of fans don't remember the dark times. When we watched football to cheer first downs instead of championships. They aren't used to watching bad football and still loving the team. That's okay. Each to their own.

I think most people are disappointed because we have the greatest QB of all-time and the greatest coach of all-time and any season where it looks like winning the Super Bowl is out of reach with that combination is disappointing, and it increasingly looks like that is the case this year.

That said, anything can happen in football. After all, the Eagles won the Super Bowl with Nick Foles after he looked like goddamn dogmeat in just about every game he appeared in since the end of 2013, including the last two games of the year (one of which he was benched for Nate Sudfeld) and the divisional playoff round. But it certainly doesn't feel like our year. Then again, I don't think the last two years really did either, and the Patriots won once and came within a hair's breadth of doing it again.

People like you are why Gordon is the way he is.

Not his fault.

I am "responsible" for Josh Gordon's current situation, that is rich.

Unfortunately your reading comprehension is quite bad, never excused his behavior at all.. just pointed out the difficulty of dealing with mental health issues, in this case appears to be depression... in mental health terms they usually refer to this as dual diagnosis...

Your answer of him finding women because of his issues, is about as lymp dycked as it gets.. only one person can make it better, Josh Gordon. In our country about 25% of people with mental health issues also have addiction issues.. his situation is not uncommon.

I just can't see the league letting him back in (they might say for his own good) or a team giving him a chance. The other factor is his age. Hes not getting any younger.

Yeah wrong link. Looks like he was going to get pinched anyways

Bert Breer was on Toucher and Rich this AM and he indicated that this event may have not been as recent as thought, and could have happened in the summer.. testing and results are only initially shared with the league and the player (probably a HIPAA rule), who can then appeal and when the appeal comes down it is shared with the team as sanctions will then follow.

Could have been a reason why there were so few targets in the past few games, they all knew it was coming.. addictions are a *****.

Interesting.

Well, to be fair, I’m cheering the team still with zero expectation that they’re going to win the Lombardi this year. That’s not quitting on the team. That’s just acknowledging that there are more complete teams out there that are playing a better brand of football than the Patriots are. The board’s problem right now are not people like me and @BradyFTW!, they’re the people that are all sunshine and rainbows or doom and gloom 24/7.

Happened over the summer, but Pats trade for him after the season starts? Doesn't sound right.

Regards,
Chris

Remember when the prospect of an 11-5 season was pie in the sky and would have equalled the best we'd seen in the team's history? When a game 2 victory over the Colts was the highest point of a season? When 6-10 filled us with hope? When 2-14 happened and we said it could have been worse? Recall a time when losing badly was far from the worst thing associated with 'our' team?

If you do then you also recall this guy:

And when losing games was far from the what we feared most...the loss of the team.

I was talking about you

Im aware.

Its not your fault that youre too ignorant to figure out that Gordon has duped you into his drama. He needs more people like you in his life because he loves to be surrounded by fools.

Poor fellow cant quit using drugs or drink before games.

CBS reports the move may not be entirely voluntary, as the NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero said Gordon is facing another indefinite suspension for possible violation of the substance abuse policy. Gordon was suspended for substance abuse in 2013 and 2014, and did not play in 2015 or 2016. In 2017, he told GQ magazine he had drugs or alcohol in his system for “probably every game of my career.”

You know forum poster IllegalContact isn't actually in Gordon's life, right?

Wait, no, I don't think you know that, because you're a ****ing idiot.

I don't think so. Rappaport implied a banishment from the league, which seems egregiously harsh and unnecessary given his circumstances. I could see that making sense for repeat offenders of PEDs, woman beaters and true criminals. But for Gordon - whose last straw doesn't even seem to be related to weed or alcohol - it's ridiculous.

I know what you're talking about. I just don't know how you think that applies to Gordan. To me he is clearly battling some kind of demon or demons.

Question, wasn't your argument against signing him about fearing a relapse?
Yes.
But that doesn’t indicate demons any more than a lack of commitment and discipline.

There are better teams this season than the Pats. Thats just the reality of the situation.

Chiefs vs Bears are my Super Bowl picks.

The Pats need to get back to the drawing board and figure this out. Quit messing with Bradys chemistry with his WRs. I believe that having Almendola back would make a huge difference and so would Deon Lewis.
