Jets Suck -- 2016 Edition (Official): Futility Confirmed

I for one wonder what Todd Bowles was doing after the Jets took their 3rd loss of the season. Probably regretting signing on the dotted line to become HC of the NYJ.

My guess is he's trying to figure new ways to justify starting Fitz. Wish I knew who in the organization was the driving force behind re-signing him. For all I know Fitz was forced on Bowles. Or Bowles wanted him back... no freakin' clue. Ugh...

Huh? I specifically said good for him, for getting a nice win yesterday. Did Buffalo play the Jets yesterday?

Also said in particular week 17 last season was excluded.
Huh? Huh? That's not what I asked, ingrate. So otherwise you were happy for him beating your Green Puke last year in your ninth game, just not week 17? You know what you're doing. You're simply an agitating Jets fan with nothing better to do with your misery than troll other team's boards with passive-aggressive nonsense.

no freakin' clue. Ugh...
That says it all.

All anyone needs to know is:
The contract is four years worth more than $16 million, according to Rapoport, per a source informed of the Jets' plans.

Ref: New York Jets announce Todd Bowles as head coach

He's got 16 million reasons to be happy about signing that contract. He's set for life, even though he'll be tainted by the Green Slime forever.

I knew it wouldn't take that long for the Bad Fitz to show up, but it came far earlier than I imagined. Last season he waited till the crucial last game to really choke. Now he's in full-on choke mode right from game 3.

Its not like you guys had all these great near term options.

Paying a QB 1yr/$12m who threw for 30TDs, had 10 wins and threw for almost 4k yards last year was not a terrible decision. They drafted QBs in the 2nd and 4th rd so clearly they view Fitzy as a stop-gap.

All the money in the world will never take away his green stain on the resume.

Oh yeah, I'm definitely happy the Jets didn't cave in and sign Fitz long-term.

But signing him at all above 5 or 6mil was foolish. And I'm not just saying that now after the losses. Been saying it since January.

I give many of the fans a pass because they're easily swayed by stats and media hype. And I will certainly say like 99% of sports media and fans thought signing Fitz to a decent deal (10mil+) was a good idea.

I don't give the Jets brass a pass though. They should have been able to see the stats were BS. Caused by scheme, Marshall/Decker and an extremely easy schedule.

What's happening right now (1-3 record and spiraling downward) was all but assured once Fitz re-signed for over 5mil.

What's done is done. We should cut our losses and move on. Bench Fitz and have him play the role he was born to play (a good backup), and start playing Geno/Petty/Hack.

Tell Fitz to restructure to a 3 year 15mil (5mil each) deal to be our veteran backup, or he's gone after this year. Good luck getting a new contract with another team after his last 5 games. He couldn't even get any interest from 31 other teams after his "great" season.

Come January know what we're working with QB-wise on the roster and adjust accordingly.

Your schedule is brutal. No question.

The other issue is that your D is allowing a touchdown more than last year. Part of that is b/c of TOs but Revis and others are not playing up to snuff.

Yup, the secondary has been dreadful. As you mention, a lot has to do with turnovers. Not just from Ditz, but our rookie WR/returner Jalin Marshall has fumbled twice resulting in immediate scores. But that's still no excuse for how they've been playing.

Now I know many here would like to point directly to Revis considering the past, but I'm not all that concerned with him or any of the other corners. It's the safeties. Holy sh!t have they sucked! No communication and horribly blown coverages. Really hoping it's a scheme fix of some sort, but those guys are running around blind back there.

On a side note, he's not technically part of the secondary, but I am thrilled with out rookie LB Lee. He got killed by Graham yesterday... but it's Graham. If you look at the stat sheet it looks bad, but if you watched the game, when Lee had coverage, it was damn good coverage. Graham is just a beast. A bit more experience and we may have a legit shot of slowing down a certain TE in our division. (Not that it matters much this season with Ditz at QB.)

A close friend of mine for 25+ years is a Jets fan and hes basically said the same thing to me but he blames Revis for the bad communication- not the safeties. He claims that Revis is being stubborn in not asking for over the top help. Says he (and the coaching staff) is in denial that hes slowing down and the safeties are deferring. Accurate?

I don't think so, but obviously I can't say for sure. I'm not out there during practice. From what I can gather (from all-22 film breakdowns and coach comments), the safeties are blowing coverages.

That's not to say 24 has been playing great or anything either. Dude needs to step it up. He did get burned by that speedster WR on Buffalo.

I don't know. Anyone with Revis' history is gonna be under a microscope. Any drop-off will be exaggerated. To me he still seems like a top cover guy, but certainty not the GOAT anymore.

AJ Green burned Revis too. He's lost a full step.

If you're referring to the deep TD, nope. That was one of the times a safety blew the coverage. It was actually sort of a credit to Revis that he was able to see the blown coverage and almost adjust to make up for it. The highlight reel or stat sheet doesn't show that though.

Now AJ had a great day besides that one bomb too. Trust me, I was definitely paying attention as a Jet fan and since I drafted AJ in the 1st round. The guy is great. He did also have some sick grabs vs tight coverage as well.

Basically Revis cannot shutdown AJ, Brown, Julio, Hopkins, OBJ by himself anymore. But who can? Hell, Sherman had a rough day vs Marshall with Ditz throwing the ball.

More WFAN chuckles. Gotta do this every loss. There will be a lot of 'em.

Joe and Evan are spot on, the Jets are a bad team. The people who were already not on board with Fitzy are now out like vultures. Fitzy's 10 picks through four games are more than Brady threw in the last two years. The Jets season is in the toilet.

The segment ends on a sad note for them, the two of them are pumped up for the Mets wildcard game. When will they ever learn? Same Old F***** Jets, Same Old F****** Mets.
