This should be posted on the Denver fan site.

Re: Jermaine Wiggins: P Manning, not his center, forgot the snapcount on that bad sna

Not a bad snap either, if Manning doesn't move that ball comes right to him. Miscommunication, sure but not a bad snap that flies over his head like some have said.

Re: Jermaine Wiggins: P Manning, not his center, forgot the snapcount on that bad sna

But.. but.. Bedard on MMBQ said it is just people's "perception" that Manning chokes and is not able to win the big one and this has nothing to do with his legacy.

I tell you I tuned in specifically and expecting to see a Manning choke in the fourth quarter and got more than I bargained for.

Yeah, I saw that. I kind of thought perception and legacy meant the same thing in this case.

The bogus fall-on-the-sword comment by the center Ramirez, that he couldn't hear Peyton, makes no sense, because all 5 linemen reacted together after hearing the same thing.

The most likely scenario is that Peyton forgot the snap count, true.

There are at least two other possibilities though.

Some audibles are actually made early in the cadence to change the snap count. Maybe Peyton did that, and yet none of his linemen heard it.

It's also possible that the linemen reacted to a "fake" snap call by a Seattle defender, which is illegal, but yes, it's done.

Not tied anymore, full possession. Congrats Peyton!

1) The initial count is set in the huddle IIRC, and since that was the very first play of the game, everyone surely knew, and probably Manning did, until he got on the field and saw them headlights. If Manning had the intention of going to the line to audible out after a read, the count would have been longer to afford him the time to do that.

2) Just how do you fake an annoying, whinny voice that never shuts up?

Re: Jermaine Wiggins: P Manning, not his center, forgot the snapcount on that bad sna

Love Wiggy and he's spot on. The entire line reacted in unison when the ball was snapped. That doesn't happen if the center screwed up and hiked it early.

Re: Jermaine Wiggins: P Manning, not his center, forgot the snapcount on that bad sna

This is my favorite thread right now.

I think it's going to be a fun off-season.

Literally laughed out loud.

Re: Jermaine Wiggins: P Manning, not his center, forgot the snapcount on that bad sna

Yup, just ask Troy Aikman, who basically said it would have been a credit to Manning if they won but that you can't blame the loss on him.

I really, really cannot believe he said something so blatantly stupid.

This, more than anything else, is what I HATE (I wish there was a stronger word) about how Peyton Manning gets covered in the media. He's LITERALLY implying that if the team won it's because of Manning, but if they lose it's as a team.

Manning played like ass. Of course the loss isn't entirely on him, but screw that: if you, the media, spend the whole season talking about PEYTON MANNING's record breaking offense and PEYTON MANNING'S Broncos having the best offense of all time, then it was PEYTON MANNING'S Broncos that ***** the bed on the biggest stage of all, with PEYTON MANNING at the feces-strewn epicenter of the *****storm.

Apologists saying Manning's not to blame are bad enough, but people like Aikman who make patently absurd comments like how the only way the Broncos could have possibly won would have solely been thanks the Anointed One actually give me an inappropriate amount of rage.

The saddest part is I don't even think I'd dislike Peyton. Just about everything I can't stand about him ironically has little to nothing to do with him.

But I digress, this thread feeds beautifully into my schadenfreude. I was so happy he choked so spectacularly. Legacy cemented IMO.

Re: Jermaine Wiggins: P Manning, not his center, forgot the snapcount on that bad sna

this has already been discussed in NFLN by heath evans who pointed out the same thing. it was couple of days Go and the reference is in the "manning legacy" thread. but will the other mediots pick it up ? fat chance

Re: Jermaine Wiggins: P Manning, not his center, forgot the snapcount on that bad sna

I e-mailed the clip to Dilfer...can't find Aikman's link...MMQB gets a copy...as do ESPN and NFLN...hoping Irvin or Deion pick it up when Peepoo Faulk starts running his mongo mouth about Peytie Greatie...

Peepoo????

Quite clearly, Peyton Manning does not suck. You can only get the most playoff losses in history by getting to the playoffs a LOT. And in order to get to the playoffs a lot you need to be a damned good quarterback.

I'm with you here, I don't really hate Manning either, it's all the media ballwashing that bothers me.

The only one I've noticed who said if You're going to give all the credit to Manning then you have to give all the blame to Manning is Deion Sanders.

Glad he choked as well lol!

Actually if you win it all the loss doesn't get tallied onto the loss record. That's the reason Brady only has 8 losses out of the 12 seasons he's started and played the entire season. Compared to Manning's 12 losses. Which means Manning is a choker!

Re: Jermaine Wiggins: P Manning, not his center, forgot the snapcount on that bad sna

well..only thing one can say in manning's defense is that the WRs all stood still. Essentially poor poor coaching . They didnt know how to get 11 guys on offense in sync. and we can blame peyton since 'he is the coach on the field' isnt he ?

WRs can't hear the snap count anyway. They don't go based on snap count.

The thing that I don't get about the whole "it was Denver's D's fault!" narrative is that Seattle's defense outscored Denver's offense. You could take every offensive and ST point off the board for Seattle, and they still win 9-8.

Obviously the Denver defense sucked, but anyone pretending that the defense let the offense down in any capacity is just bull****ting.
