What's with the hate of Chao here? I get that he had some **** ups as a doctor. But as an injury analyst he has been pretty spot on for the most part. He's said all along that it looks like a mild sprain and that Brady would be fine for the playoffs.

He's full of **** calling this a high ankle sprain. He's only doing it because the idiot media started it [Breer] and he wants to be in with the media.

Check back to who broke the story, it was schefter and it was only a sprain.

By the way, I didn't think a reputable doctor would diagnose injuries based on TV angles.

Of course Chao is far from a reputable doctor.

Yes, he said it was a mild sprain at first. then he changed it to a mild high ankle sprain which is ********. He did it to be relevant when all the idiots cited Breer's ******** claim.

Look up high ankle sprain, mild and show me where it says you can tape it up and play in a matter of minutes.

The q should be how rusty JE is.

Chao is the GoAT diasnoser of injuries from watching them on TV.

You were on the money with this from the beginning. He hasn't been in a boot the last couple of days. It's not a high ankle sprain.

Thank you. I'm not a doctor, but I can read. I also like to write and hate when words and terms are misused. 85% of ankle sprains are the lower type, where your ankle wobbles and you can often tape it up and play on it, if necessary.

Everybody's had these. Most people likely haven't had a high ankle sprain, but if they did, they would know this was media sensationalism that always contradicted the facts.

I had to hold back and wait for Mort to verify his source.

It might take awhile since you know, he just learned to delete tweets recently...

Pretty much what he can do. He's about to lose his medical license. He's a desperate man and changing a diagnosis to agree with know nothings who parrot Breer to make him seem more authoritative doesn't matter as long as it keeps his profile in the news.

He's the equivalent of ESPNs Munson the dibarred lawyer. prostituting his medical degree and soon to be revoked license, to get his name in the public arena.

Yes, he can see whether a knee or ankle twists, but he's not doing this to inform and not worried about being right if he gets a following.

I've had multiple high ankle sprains of varying degrees. You can certainly play on a mild high ankle sprain.

Sure, just as long as he isn't practicing medicine.

Not that he can, anyways.

What is a high ankle sprain?

Do you know only 5-10% of ankle sprains are high ankle sprains?

Have you had over ten times as many sprains as high ankle sprains in your life?

Varying degrees? So you've had to have some operated on?

It is a sprain in the ligaments that control the up and down movement, not the side to side. As the name implies, you can feel it in the upper ankle. I could feel mine more in the front than just on the side like a lower ankle sprain. For me, they tended to flare up after a slight tweak after I thought they were fully healed. In my experience, lower ankle sprains healed faster, and once they felt healed, didn't tend to come back with a small tweak.

He always will be, since a reputable doctor won't do what he's doing anyway.

EDIT, I mispoke. He's not going to have his license revoked, he already has. They've stayed the revocation for five years and put him on probation.

Even if he doesn't practice medicine, i don't think he's gone 5 years without a DUI since the early nineties.

In March 2014, the Medical Board of California entered a Stipulated Settlement and Disciplinary Order against Dr. Chao, effective April 25, 2014. The order revoked Dr. Chao’s license to practice medicine; however, the revocation was stayed in favor of probation for 5 years. The action stemmed from an accusation filed in 2012, which was amended in 2013 and involved complaints from five patients. The Medical Board found several causes for discipline, including gross negligence, repeated negligent acts, failure to maintain adequate and accurate medical records, and general unprofessional conduct.

That's wrong. Control up and down movements? How do they do that?

By "play" do you mean sit at a desk and post on Pats Fans or play NFL football?
When I was a kid, I got a fairly mild high ankle sprain jumping out of the back of the dump truck. I was mowing and lugging 100+ lb barrels of wet grass minutes later.

Sure. But more often than not, and by a good margin, he is correct in his diagnosis from just watching the game on TV. Would I want him as my doctor, or as the Pats team doctor? Hell no. But as an injury analyst he seems to be doing a pretty good job.
