Jason La Canfora: Revis return to Patriots looking increasingly likely

1st step is to sign a contract

2nd step is to offer some public apology that seems ok for the dim to accept but for the rest of us view as a check-box, whatever move.

3rd step is he actually needs to make the team which with the concerns around his health and weight make it something less than a 100% lock.

All I care about is winning. If he helps the team win, great. I don't care about the comments. He isn't my friend. He is a pawn in BB's winning. Winning is everything. Words & disrespect - in this case - irrelevant.

I wonder why the Steelers aren't interested. He basically said he'd like to play in Pittsburgh.

Jets fans have already had to suck it once with Revis winning here. It would bring a sense of Satisfaction for him to win it here again with Mangold in the fold. It would be just a tad short of Chrebet winning here of ripping out their green oily hearts.

Btw, dont like Revis but if he were to sign i will cheer for the guy.

Do not care that Revis left and care only slightly that he bad mouthed the Patriots post departure. Neither would disqualify him for me.
I DO care that he was not only fat (fixable) but that he simply stood there and made little to no attempt to tackle players in his vicinity. I'm not convinced that he'll have the absolute motivation when we really, REALLY need it. Don't trust his character.

Playing on a vet minimum deal and earning his second ring would sure alter the narrative on the guy, ensure HOF voters won't TO him on the first vote.
Cunning Revis

To got TOed because he wrecked teams. Revis has never been a locker room problem to my knowledge. He shouldn't have any problems

They might be smarter than what we give them credit for?

Well, they probably aren't signing him because he sucks at zone. The fact that they still play that zone pretty much says all that needs to be said about their lack of intelligence.

I'd rather have Butler. But a slimmed-down Revis on a cheap, even one-year, deal, would make a lot of sense.

Imagine a secondary of Gilmore, Butler, *and* a slimmed-down, motivated Revis? With McCourty and Chung there as well? Holy smokes.

As far as the effort goes we saw some of that with Jamie Collins with Cleveland last year. FWIW

Aren't there other veteran CBs more deserving of a shot at a ring?

Besides, there are many other ways to gets Rats fans to jump off a bridge.

If they haven't jumped already, I'm not sure what could prompt them.

(Crap, just saw Fair Catch Friar posted the same thing)

I would love to have him back ;)

But yeah, biggest problem with him last season was clearly a lack of motivation. If he can get into shape again (big if) and plays motivated then I wouldn't mind having him on the team, he won't be worse than Coleman and Cyrus Jones.

Well he gets $6 million for sitting home paid for by Mr. Johnson, so a $1 million contract means he gets $6 million, 5 of which are paid for by the Jets....

All the "if he can play" disclaimers aside having Revis play here on the Jets dime would be just buttlefumble-esque.

Right? How can people not want that. I don't care if the guy's a traitor, a mercenary, a bully and a big mouth. The greatest player in the history of the Jets winning multiple rings with the Jets' biggest rival in his 2 non-consecutive one year stints with the Pats would probably mean viagra sales in New England would fall to near zero for the next 20 years.

After the parting shots to Belichick, Brady, and the organization as a whole, I'll believe it when I see it. If he signs, throw the fat tub of lard into the slot and let him put the straps on slot receivers while Gilmore and Butler/Rowe handle things on the outside.

the way in understand it, he gets $6M unless he signs contract w/ diff team...if he signs a contract the $6M dissapears from the jets regardless how much new contract is for
It would depend on the language of the "offset"... I read it the other way so that would affect whether a team signs him....and if he wants to play, knowing he getting $6 million for sitting on his couch eating Doritio's and drinking Genny Cream Ale.....
EDIT PFT said it was a dollar for dollar offset not wiping away the Jets responsibility if he signs anywhere....for any amount.

Revis can reject offers for less than $6 million, without consequence
