I've officially developed a Tom Brady like man crush on him now.

Agreed, I've said it before, I'll say it again; SIGN BAY NOW!!

Noone gets a fastball by this guy, he's locked in right now...........

He makes us look smarter and smarter for trading for him while the dodgers look stupid

If he's smart, he'll take himself to free agency, where there is a very weak class. He'll make a lot of coin on the market. Economic conditions won't affect the deals the top free agents get. It's the second and third tier guys that will get submarket deals.

He's definately going to test the waters. It's a business and the goal is to make as much money as you can. He'll have plenty of offers, that's for sure. The Yankees will be in the mix for sure, they'll need a left fielder next year...........

Manny who? Anyway if he goes to the Yankees he'll get the same respect Damon got when he went to New York. So I hope Theo can do some magic this off-season and get him to resign. But, guys come on. Focus on this season rite now. Do I hear MVP?

As of right now I think Youk is slightly ahead of him in that category.

Longoria is a lock at this point; seems like he hits a bomb everytime he gets up vs the Red Sox, what an incredible talent and the Rays have him in the fold for quite awhile, wonder if he regrets signing that extension so soon?

Im pretty sure leaving in his case as much as a hundred million on the table will not sit well if he continues this pace. At this point he is more valuable then guys making 5-6 times what he does. He may not come out and say it, but if it was me i would be kicking myself because the rays still do not put in what it takes to win it all! 9 years for 44 million, lol that is a season and a half for arod lol.

If you're Bay, and you're looking over in RF at JD Drew and his $14 million per, what are you thinking you might be worth?

Here is a list of 2009-2010 FA's. If you're Jason Bay, or his agent, don't you have to be salivating when you see the lack of high end players that will be available. Bay is the premier FA to be at this point.

Carl Crawford - $10MM club option with a $1.25MM buyout
Johnny Damon
Matt Holliday
Hideki Matsui

Center fielders
Rick Ankiel
Coco Crisp - $8MM club option with a $500K buyout

Right fielders
Jermaine Dye - $12MM mutual option with a $1MM buyout

Magglio Ordonez - $15MM club/vesting option with a $3MM buyout

Catchers
Ramon Hernandez - $8.5MM club option with a $1MM buyout
Victor Martinez - $7MM club option with a $250K buyout
Bengie Molina

First basemen
Carlos Delgado
Adam LaRoche

Second basemen
Mark DeRosa
Placido Polanco
Brian Roberts
Freddy Sanchez - $8MM club option with a $600K buyout

Bobby Crosby
Khalil Greene
Miguel Tejada
Jack Wilson

Third basemen

Billy Wagner - $8MM club option with a $1MM buyout

It's crystal clear to me; the Yankees kiss off Damon and Shemp and sign Bay, end of story, done deal.

I know the Sox had a real small sample last year, but too bad they didn't extend Bay at the end of the season; Youk, Bay, Pedrioa, Ellsbury, not a bad core to build a contender around for years to come.............

If Theo doesn't resign Bay, why not Damon??? Come on we need our Caveman back. I prefer bay, but still.

More like $50 mill.

To me, Bay was a steal. Since he has been here, he is productive. We had won many close games because of him. Long contract for Bay is a good decision and I hope that they will keep Bay around for few years.

Agreed, I've said it before, I'll say it again; SIGN BAY NOW!!

And trade Ortiz now!

What's wrong with Theo? Doesn't he understand the smart way to do business is to trade a guy when his value couldn't be lower and sign a guy mid-season when his value couldn't be any higher?

If there's some flaw in that logic I'm just not seeing it!

Are we talking about the same guy who had a poster of Yaz on his wall when he was growing up? Yankmees? I don't think so.

At Seasons end I hope Theo Lets Bay walk...Right into the Yankees club house

But seriously I think he waits until the end of the season, I cant see him resigning him right now and the way Bay is playing I cant see him not testing the market.

I'm not a Yankees fan, I'm offering my opinion of what will happen with Bay.

And you are right about the Yaz poster too BTW....

Brilliant logic on your part; don't try to sign him now, let him get to free agency so he can field offers from every team under the sun.

Effin brilliant idea Diamond Jim Brady.

Tell me the odds of a big name player who gets to free agency, fields a raftload of offers and turns them all down and resigns with his original team.

I'll be here for the rest of the week............and beyond, so have at it.

And as far as big popup; sure, keep him and leave him in the three hole the rest of the year so he can slowly kill this team. When is enough enough? .200, .100, .0000000001? O for the season?

Please explain to me why it is you know for sure Bay will continue to hit on pace for 50 home runs and 170 RBIs.... and why this isn't a hot streak that will see his numbers come back closer to his career average 32 home runs and 107 RBIs. Right now you have to pay him as a 50/170 guy - if he's really a 32/107 home run guy and you've paid him like a 50/170 that's really effin stupid Diamond Double G.

And if you don't think he will continue to hit at this pace, please explain why you think he would be cheaper while he's on a hot streak, and more expensive while he's on a cooler streak.

Is it a gamble? Sure... but it's probably MORE of a gamble to sign him when his stock has never been higher. I don't particularly care if the Sox have to spend an extra $10 or $20 or $30million more to sign him now - but you're asking the SOX not to care about $10 - $30 million - and that's just not going to happen.

And the only way Bay ISN'T interested in testing free agency is if the Sox give him what he feels he would earn in free agency - but NOW - not later. And if his entire career is any indication, by that point the Sox and other teams will be bidding over a 32/107 guy - which even if they need to outbid all the other teams out there - they're STILL probably paying a lot less for him than they would to sign a 50/170 player.

Seeing as "Diamond Theo" and company are just as "effin brilliant" and haven't signed him right now while he's on his hot streak, my guess is that Theo and the Sox brain trust tends to agree more with me than you.

Though I suppose I shouldn't fully rule out the possibility that an anonymous sports message board poster going by the name of Double G is that much smarter than Theo Epstein, but it's extremely doubtful.

Let's think a bit folks. If you were wondering WHY the Sox haven't signed him THIS is WHY.
